Last night, and this is true as I'm sitting here today, I dreamt I was a successful author of the book 'Life, Death and Saggitarianism (and 126 other things that don't appear in this book)'.
Make of that what you will, I think I might start writing now!

Re: Mail on Sunday special issue
Been away to south Devon over the weekend and picked up the Mail as my holiday Sunday read, don't normally get a paper on Sunday so the Beano freebie seemed an obvious choice. I have to say, I thought the comic was better than I expected. Haven't bought a copy for many years as I was a Dandy subscri...

Re: Dreams and Nightmares.
Like some other posters, I often dream that I am in an old newsagent, browsing the sumptuous shelves of comics circa '72. The best dreams are the ones that seemingly make no sense though, but are astoundingly vivid (HD if you will): The night before last I was walking down a street near our home, tu...

Buster blues
Help me, I was at a friend's birthday yesterday and one of his friend's son's had a small collection of late '90 s comics that he picked up at a car boot sale. He was 10 and also a Beano fan, which was nice to see. Anyway, I was leafing through a Buster from (I think) 1999 and inside was a space the...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
At a car boot sale today in the National Trust's Kingston Lacey estate in Dorset I picked up issues 46-530 of Look & Learn. The chap didn't want anything for them but I gave him the change I had in my pocket (1.27 but he only took a pound!) and even offered to deliver them for me. I have duplicates ...

Re: VHS Recordings wanted
Agreed, the fascination there is the language used by Trisha, although not meant offensively, it perfectly shows how the way people spoke then was so different to today, and for that, it is an historical reference point. In a similar way as when old newsreel footage is shown and the narrator uses cl...

Re: VHS Recordings wanted
I have the first 16 (yes 16) series of Grange Hill on DVD (they are all taken from old videos, so the quality is a little variable), they are on something like 45 DVDs but if anyone is interested in any of those, I'm sure I could do copies (although the first few series are available on DVD already ...

Re: Dreams and Nightmares.
My own dreams have often been a source of fascination to me, and I did start writing them down - there is a part of the human brain that can delete a dream from memory within seconds of waking, only for some event or conversation to trigger the dream later on - how odd. I dreamt once that I was watc...

Re: Climbing Up Trees
I too am not proud, but I went 'Scrumping' in the early 80's. I remember one time in particular, taking a liking to a blokes strawberries with a friend and the chap chasing me up his garden, getting to within an inch of us! Looking back on it now it was a mean thing to do, I would be livid if i caug...

Re: Guardian article: The Dandy Faces Closure
As an occasional poster but an avid reader of this forum, I am with the rest of you guys in being sad at the demise of the Dandy. I took the plunge and subscribed at the start of the revamp, and it is sad that, currently, the comic makes me laugh out loud at some point every week. I feel that it has...

Re: comics on c-d rom
On a slightly different tack, I am the singer in a local (Dorset) hillbilly/American roots band 'The Mad Ox Brothers', and we are releasing our first EP next week. I had to sign an intellectual property rights form to get the CDs duplicated, although we didn't write any of the songs, the most recent...

Re: Are you a Whizz-kid or a Chip-ite?
I suppose when I was younger, There must have been a class thing going on on my mind. I always considered Chips to be more 'working class' Than Whizzer, in a similar vein to Swap Shop/Tiswas to those of us of a certain age. Although, curiously, I always watched Swap Shop! Although W&C was two comics...

Chip-ite for sure, but only becuase of Shiner.
Fantastic concept for a comic though, I'd love to see it back again.

Re: non DC Thomson humour comics
Mid 70's Fleetway/IPC is my thing. Buster for me stands the test of time, although Krazy makes for an interesting retro read. However, like previous posters have stated, the more standard comics - Whizzer and Chips, Whoopee!!, Cor!!, Monster Fun etc. would probably suit a newbie, along with Buster. ...
