Um...I didn't drink much, honest! Not quite sure what happened there, but you get my drift...I hope!

Likewise, Lew!

Comic Event reminder!

Or you could look into organising one yourselves, with public and private funding, using existing events as models.

Just back from Birmingham. Great Well done to all to meet those I met! Well done to all concerned.

BUMP!

See y'all there tomorrow! Add to the already impressive cast list on the website, Nigel Parkinson and Gary Northfield, plus extra colour from Samantha and Ruth, Beano/Dandy colourists.

Don't worry, you can still go after all. It's next weekend! And you don't have to talk to any creators, you can just stare at them. That's what I do.
Me too. First one to blink gets the drinks in, Gary. See you next week!

Re: Beano/Dandy Forum

It may have been me I'm afraid Steve, but what I was suggesting was that a wider appreciation of other current comics might be in order because I'm tired of the "British comics are dead" myth. (If comics are dead who's been paying our wages for the last 20 plus years?) I'll reiterate again that Wal...

I mention next weekend's Comic Show... and there's zero response. A British comic convention in the heart of the country and no one seems intererested.

Beano/Dandy Forum

I seem to recall a similar shout a while back, bemoaning the Dandy and Beano monopolising this forum, though I can't recall who started that one, but at the time I said nothing. This time the itch needs scratching. A quick look at the first page of the main discussion board shows that out of the top...

and Brad Break....you keep forgetting him...he was a sad fun story...a lot of kids in hospital appreaciated him....I did... I stand corrected - I forgot that Nipper also merged with Buster. What a voracious appetite Buster had! Glad you liked Brad, Peter - I was a little apprehensive when Bob Paynt...

The first comic page they did....

What did you do in Nutty, NP? I didn't know that. My calculations were based on a very loose estimate of four pages per week average, 52 weeks per year, 24 years of drawing. Yes, I have had the occasional week off, and i won't have officially completed 24 years until next July, but the weekly averag...

The first comic page they did....

I think Peter was referring to a spin-off strip in Nutty featuring various Supervillains, which I drew for a period, while John worked on the Bananaman stories.

Love the idea of the spider strip, Lew. Kev, judging by your youthful good looks, you must've been about four in 1980 - good going! Peter, my first professional commission was a cover for a Beano comic library back in 1983, featuring Gnasher wearing a dunce's hat at Dog School (which may have been t...

Re: May appear sexist, but bear with me.

On a lighter note than the previously deep thread that we had regarding racism, why is it that almost every female that appears in a male comic is almost anatomically incorrect? 'Cos American comics are mostly aimed at teenage boys. Lew That's right, Lew - grown men aren't interested...

Thankfully, Bananaman is rooted far more in reality.
