Re: Comic book from folk at Aardman Animations

Ooh ta for that ... Hopefully you'll like it. I'm totally chuffed to have something in print I can actually thumb through (posters for that village fete in 1984 doesn't really count). Sadly there was no box to tick for 'Authentic 70's annual' smell at the printers. Ah well... Still rather exciting t...

Comic book from folk at Aardman Animations

Hey there.... Just a quick bit of promotion, as some of the folk at Aardman Animations will soon be releasing a comic book anthology with stories based around the theme of Great Britain and the British Empire. It's a bunch of different styles (although I've just noticed that there are no stories pro...

Re: What comics did you buy today?

Oooh yes indeed. What artwork did you buy?

Fab site by the way Shaqui. Haven't been on there for a while so it was great to trawl through all the info and artwork the other day, whilst sipping a nice cup of tea..

Comic Expo this coming weekend!

Haven't posted for ages and have never been to the Expo before but shall hopefully be attending this time. I'm usually stuck at home with deadlines to meet but not this year. Looking forward to wandering about, enjoying what I hope will be a nice day, buying some comic artwork and having a beer. :D

My first comic employer

Ah, Jeremy Banx is a really nice guy as well....... His later work on The Many Deaths of Norman Spittal was great stuff.
Just dug out my Oink comics, and the promo given away with Eagle comic which I amazingly still own. Ahhh, the memories.

Brian Bolland book

For any Bolland fans out there comes The Art of Brian Bolland - Released in May. Covering among other things, all his early work in UK comics, the wonderful Killing Joke and his work at DC comics. I for one am looking forward to getting hold of this book.

London ABC show

Has anyone been to one of these shows recently? Are they any good for British comics and comic art or are they likely going the way of the Memorabilia shows with mostly figures and NOT VERY GOOD toys? It's a bit worrying as the new show (April) seems to be TWO SHOWS IN ONE (Ooh, sounds like a fleetw...

Comic related on vinyl or records or CD's

Yeah, I remember buying the Madness single - Mutants of Mega City One, more because of the ace Bolland cover than the music, although I seem to remember it not being that bad. Which is more than can be said for that awful 80's Dan Dare 7", which I also have the misfortune of owning, athough it's at ...

Any new Ebay buys recently?

Hi Steelclaw, As far as I'm aware you can't post pics unless you have access to a website or place to store your pics.... Sadly I'm a bit of a luddite in that area. I work in the animation industry and STILL have yet to get a website, which is a bit useless. I BELIEVE Imageshack is a possible method...

Any new Ebay buys recently?

The page was 150. Not TOOOOOO bad considering where it's from and its age, though obviously it isn't a Bellamy. Still quite nice though and great I was yet to own any Jim Watson/Zero X pages. If I see nice Don Lawrence, Gerry Anderson related strips, Brian Bolland, Cam Kennedy, Ken Reid or Mike Lace...

Any new Ebay buys recently?

Not actually a comic, but, have just received the page of Jim Watson's artwork from the TV Century 21 strip I picked up last week - Zero X. Zero X's twin ship takes to the sky!

Is this a joke category?

Zip comic, which I don't know a whole heck of a lot about appears to be another BOYS adventure comic, from the Odhams stable in the 50's. Check out the gallery in this section. Had strips which included chisel jawed BRETT BRAND (sounds promising so far! The type face looks like it could be from a WW...

Steve Bright to draw Beryl in Davy Law style?

Is that on the back of the latest issue - Beryl's new 'OLD' look? Funnily enough I have an old Topper from 1961 laying in a box beside me...Just had a flick through (Ahhh, that wonderful old comic smell  ) and a quick read of Beryl the Peril. Really nice scratchy style Law had in those years,...
