Re: Sci-Fi strips in girls comics
Tammy 'ET Estate', 1983. This was written by Jake Adams and illustrated by Guy Peeters. Keats Estate is renamed ET Estate after it is hit by a meteor shower. Jenny Holmes finds out this meteor shower is in fact an alien invasion, but nobody believes her. 'The Clock and Cluny Jones', 1973, written by...

Re: Help! Missing Lucky Charm issues!
Thanks, Phil. Yes, Lucky Charm #25 reprints Catch the Cat. This ending reminds me of a Leopardman story where the Leopardman from Buster is forced to fake his death by rigging his costume to be destroyed when he gets cornered and his identity threatened with exposure. Unlike the Cat the Leopardman w...

Re: Help! Missing Lucky Charm issues!
I would love to track down #25, the Catch the Cat issue, or at least have some scans from it. Can anyone help, please?

Re: Misty - The Female 2000AD
I remember seeing those Mysti books! But I just thought it was a girl's fashion / gossip magazine. I wish I'd got some more now. Even further back, A&C Black produced a series of books that were advertised as "part book, part comic", though this actually meant they had big captions like Commando. T...

Re: Favourite characters/stories in girl's comics
Philcom: Does this cat character from Beano have any super powers or does she get by on gymnastics and gadgets? Billy and Katie don't have superpowers. They're very agile, which they hide by pretending to be clumsy when not wearing the catsuits, and their most common weapon is the cord worn around ...

Philcom: Does this cat character from Beano have any super powers or does she get by on gymnastics and gadgets? And let's not forget Leopardman from Buster's 'The Leopard from Lime Street'. This was Billy Farmer, the schoolboy who gains the powers of a leopard after being scratched by one that was i...

Re: Favourite characters/stories in girl's comics
Re Cat characters: There was also 'Mark of the Cat' from June. This story featured another resister from occupied France in a cat costume (perhaps this was the same writer as Catch the Cat!). Nobody knows who she is, and this is the mystery that keeps everybody guessing, whether it is the reader, th...

Re The Cat: I've encountered some stories about 'The Cat' and one thing puzzles me: why do the Germans, French and Allies always think The Cat is a male? :?: It should be apparent, even with her disguise, that the Cat is a female, and as far as I can tell Marie makes no effort to disguise her voice ...

Re: Favourite characters/stories in girl's comics
Philcom: There was a similar story, 'The Strange Spectacles' in Enid Blyton's book 'A Second Book of Naughty Children'. A gnome lends a girl a pair of magic spectacles. The glasses enable the girl to see everyone in class as what they really are: a spiteful girl appears as a cat, a greedy girl as a ...

Re: The Comp in Bunty and in Nikki
The Comp was first drawn by Ron Lumsden and then by Peter Wilkes. When The Comp ended in Bunty I knew that was the beginning of the end for Bunty herself. I had a feeling the end of Bunty was coming for some time, but closing down The Comp definitely confirmed it.

I must say I loved the budgie!
Tracy merged with Judy somewhere around Judy's #1301 mark in 1985. I don't have the issue so I can't be more precise.
