Re: Looking for first appearance of Miss Bigger

I see Miss Bigger hasn’t taken on the distinctive choppers and nose she would later on and doesn't have her trademark black blouse and tweed jacket and skirt. She's also thinner. Shows how she evolved as various artists took her on. Yes, she certainly has quite a way to go to the goggle-eyed monste...

Re: Looking for first appearance of Miss Bigger

Thank you Phoenix. I was wondering when the first Wee Sue Story ended in Sandie. So she ended 20 May 1972?

Re: Looking for first appearance of Miss Bigger

Interesting that Miss Bigger gave her first name as Lillian in her first appearance, and that was how it was for the first few years. But by 1978 Miss Bigger's first name was given as Amelia. I wonder: why the change? Miss Bigger couldn't have changed it herself because we see old school reports giv...

Re: Looking for first appearance of Miss Bigger

I don't know if you're still looking for this, Tammyfan - you probably found it long ago. However in case you haven't, Miss Bigger was first introduced in the first Wee Sue Tammy story of 27 October 1973. Happy to provide a scan if you still want one. Thank you Goof. Actually, a scan would be most ...

A 'Strange Story' it might have been, but it was still 'utterly ridiculous'.
Maybe not so ridiculous with a girl being mummified and sealed in a sarcophagus while still alive. That's pretty gruesome, after all.

Re: Seeking 'Phantom of the Fells' (Bunty?)

Lost for Words appeared 11 April 1981.

Richardson was also a filler artist on Tammy's "Eva's Evil Eye" in 1974. He did the last two episodes, maybe more. It has been a while since I looked at the serial.

Re: Seeking 'Phantom of the Fells' (Bunty?)

Thanks very much for the information on the Tammy stories, Tammyfan - that's very helpful. The June stories "Could It Be You?" aka "Is This Your Story?" were reprinted in Jinty 1976-1977, so John Richardson artwork was reprinted there. Do you know whether John Richardson was the main artist for thi...

Re: Seeking 'Phantom of the Fells' (Bunty?)

It was about an actress named Sarah playing a pharaoh’s daughter who gets switched with the real princess. She ends up being mummified alive (urrgh!), as was the custom when the pharaoh died. Centuries later, archaeologists are astonished to find the mummified remains of the pharaoh’s daughter wear...

Re: Seeking 'Phantom of the Fells' (Bunty?)

John Richardson also drew a Strange Story called “This is Your Life” and another Strange Story, the title of which I don’t remember. It might have been “The Pharaoh’s Daughter’s Stand-in” or something like that. It was about an actress named Sarah playing a pharaoh’s daughter who gets switched with ...

Re: Seeking 'Phantom of the Fells' (Bunty?)

As we've gone this far, why not try and compile a checklist for John Richardson's girls' comic art, as far as we can? If nothing else, it might help to generate a little more interest in a very underrated artist. I'm happy to do the list, and here's a first version, which should include everything ...
