What DC Showcase book do you have and recommend...

I have three so far. House of Mystery, Haunted tank and Jonah Hex. Jonah Hex is the only book that has really stood the test of time mind you. The art is superb and the stories quite readable. Haunted Tank is not fat behind but some of the stories seem to fall apart before they end. Sadly inspite of...

The Future Of Comics - Do They Have One?

Sadly the youngest big(ish) name I can think of that is a comics fan is Simon Pegg star of Spaced and Shaun of the dead. He might appeal to teenagers but not children. I suppose Lenny Henry being a comedian and a comics fan would have some pull but how many under 10's know who he is these days? The ...

The Future Of Comics - Do They Have One?

One of the big problems comics have had over the last 20 years or so when it comes to helping kids learn to read is the use of upper case letters in word balloons. Teachers nowadays much prefer youngsters to learn reading using lower case letters. I think educaters and parents would be much happier ...

Comics on postage-stamp size computer chips that you slot into the spine of a "book" which has flexible LCD pages. The pages of the comic then appear on the LCD pages and you read it like a mag/ book. Simply slot the next issue into the same device to read that etc. Similar things are already with ...

Breathing some new life into old characters.

You bunch of creaky old timers! I was 11 when Star Wars came out. Just the right age I suppose to lap it all up! I do remember all the flash Gordon type shows being showed during the summer holidays though. I watched them all quite happily. Summer was not summer unless the likes of Buster Crabbe or ...

Gadzooks! Not fans of Star Wars? You should be taken outside and flogged. Although it is permissable to not like the most recent trilogy to not like the first three films is just not on.

American Titans vs British Minnows?

On the other hand, who?s going to buy a comic where the superhero goes around wearing pinstripe trousers and a bowler hat?

Me, I did back in the 80's. Dont' you remember Big Ben the man with no time for crime?

Sadly he was not around for long!

ALBION No.6 out on Thursday 28th. 4 page preview here.

I have been a bit disappointed with this series. It was a great idea but the talents involved do not seem to have the ability to do it justice. I also find it slighlty irritating that the real world art looks less realistic than the the comic book world art. I guess I may as well see it through to t...

Comic convention in December

That is bad news. I had kind of assumed that traders would be cheaper than retailers. I have got so used to paying Amazon prices for much of my comic reading material I doubt if I would be tempted to part with much cash. It still sounds like it could be an interesting day out mind you.

Cool! I am actually off that weekend and only live about 30 miles away. If possible I will be attending. I have never been to one of these geek fests before. As well as seeing the stars (I have heard of at least for of the people attending) can you buy things cheaper than retail at them such as Acti...

It does seem like overkill to me. the danger of diluting the brand is always a worry and as has been said they will no doubt rob sales from each other and potentially all end up being cancelled because of that.

Thoughts on this web site.

I often delve into this website during dull spots on my night shifts. normally I don't have time to go further than seeing what is happening in this forum, drop off the odd comment then it is back to the grindstone. the other day work ground to a halt and I had a good chance to go through the site i...

?103 seems quite fair to me for a comic of that significance

What are the odds that this documentary will feature the most socially inept people that they can find to interview? They never seem to talk to people who are business owners or are family men with good jobs.

35 new annuals in the shops now

I have always felt slightly embarrassed by not always going for what turn out to be the 'cool' things in life. When it came to TV I was Blue Peter and Multi coloured swap shop fan rather than a Magpie and Tizwas fan. I was the same with my comics the more esoteric things were the less I liked them s...
