Re: Schoolgirls' Adventure Library
I tried to register on the Misty site a few days ago but there's some sort of bug that's making it impossible. I was able to get in touch with Briony Coote though - she was the person who told me Douglas Perry's name I've wondered who that artist was for 25 years!

Re: Schoolgirls' Adventure Library
Thanks for the pics, Ispy! I'm excited at the thought of discovering Misty for the first time, it looks incredible.
I have some of the Schoolgirls' Pcture Libraries too Mike Number 41 (Ice Show Mystery) and Number 121 (Yank at St Celia's). The artwork is fab, it's very detailed.

Re: Schoolgirls' Adventure Library
Yes, the drawings inside appear to be by the same artist, though I find it difficult to tell with artwork of this period The cover has a short signature in the corner, P.MAR.

Schoolgirls' Adventure Library
A while ago I picked up this in a bunch of other girls' picture libraries. I didn't realise at the time that it was No. 1 :D It's in great condition too. The Schoolgirls' Adventure Library was published from autumn 1963 by Micron Publishing (GM Smith Publishing, Micron House, Mitcham, Surrey) and ra...

Re: Douglas Perry (girls' comics 1970s-1990s?)
Wow, that is fab! Thanks loads for posting it Phil :D I'm going to try to track down some Misty annuals. They seem to be quite expensive on Ebay and Amazon marketplace though - I guess it's because Misty was so good it's got a large following? I just want knackkered old reading copies so I might put...

Re: Douglas Perry (girls' comics 1970s-1990s?)
Those are fab. Diana's one of the titles that I've never read, but I've started to collect annuals (just old, knackkered copies that I can enjoy reading) and I'll be exploring the ones I've never read before. I'm looking forward to Misty!!

Re: Douglas Perry (girls' comics 1970s-1990s?)
Thanks Phil! It's cool to find that so many men enjoy the old girls' comics. Plenty of my friends have admitted that they secretly loved reading their sisters' Bunty, Tammy etc when they'd finished with them :D I'm slowly uploading stuff to my Flickr page so you're welcome to have a browse through t...

All righty! I've got three examples of Perry's work scanned for you: from Mandy 1971: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4124/4970541726_1f84d89b04.jpg from Tammy 1977: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/4996250166_2574c34986.jpg from Bunty 1985: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4091/4996249852_0a827c952...

Re: Douglas Perry (girls' comics 1970s-1990s?)
Thanks, ISPY :D The "Go Girl" that Douglas Perry illustrated was a picture story about a girl who drove her brother's Go Kart, so sadly as you say the cut out wardrobe below is by someone else. I'll get some of Perry's work scanned in so you can all take a look though, and see if you recognise his s...

Re: Favourite characters/stories in girl's comics
I only got Bunty weekly, and then only between 1987 (from the merger with Suzy) to 1898 (just after the merger with Nikki) so I've come to know the others through old annuals and story libraries. I particularly liked stories set in historical times: The Seven Sisters (Bunty, c1988) - a Victorian orp...

Looking for a story from School Friend? annual c1950s
Hi everyone, I'm new here so I hope I don't spam you all at once with my enthusiasm :D I have a collection of my mother's old School Friend annuals from the 1950s, but as a child I can clearly remember reading a picture strip story in a girls annual and I can't find the actual annual that it contain...

Douglas Perry (girls' comics 1970s-1990s?)
Hi everyone, I'm new here and have always been keen on the artwork from the comics that I used to read as a young girl - mainly Bunty, but also Mandy, Tammy, Judy etc and also my mother's old School Friends. Ever since I remember, there was one artist whose artwork I loved and I always enjoyed the s...
