I knew I could rely on you to pin this down! I shall have to be very careful in future when looking at what I think is Otway! I'd love to see an episode of Otway's version, if it's not too much trouble. Thanks Phil

Re: If we had a list of the 100 greatest serials in girls co

Of course Doughty was equally at home on girls' comics, having just completed a ten-year stint on the 'Terry Brent' series in School Friend . He really was a fantastic artist who'd probably be much better remembered today if he'd drawn more Fantasy or Science Fiction strips instead of specializing ...

Re: Which titles would you like to see indexed?

As far as Starblazer is concerned DC Thomson themselves provided a complete list of titles, writers and artists, serializing it during the last few months of publication. I think it can now be found online - possibly via Down The Tubes. Indeed Phil. It's https://downthetubes.net/?page_id=18986 P.S....

Re: Mike Noble RIP

I looked at how many Wide World magazines I had with Mike's artwork and decided one year was enough to wrap my memories of Mike up. Hope you enjoy my post

Re: Mike Noble RIP

It's telling that, when I got rid of my Look-In comics, I kept his Timeslip strips out of them. I shouldn't have rushed my response...I can't believe it "Steve" but I did exactly the same thing. Tore out Timeslip by Mike Noble (and also some Bolton "Bionic Woman") before adding the Look-Ins to the ...

Re: Mike Noble RIP

Images of his Fireball XL5 stories have stayed in my memory since. [...]Steve Zodiac hanging from a ceiling sprinkler about to drop into the beam of a deadly laser. Mike would be pleased to hear you noticed this incident. He said it was based on an escape attempt he read about that someone behind t...

Re: When did The Happy Days End?

Here are the first two pages of 'Sally's Space Ballet' from Princess Picture Library #81 WOW! That is lovely artwork Phil. The girl's look seems to me to be similar to others but the man is drawn so 'photographically' to make it hard to work out who the artist is! Thanks for sharing and who would t...

Re: Rebellion Purchase Comic Cuts & Look In

I bought the first year or so of Look-In but got rid of them apart from number 1. But I did cut out the Timeslip pages and put them in two scrapbooks which I sold on eBay this year. Wish I'd kept the Look-Ins now. ME TOO! I threw all the Look-In s on a bonfire in 1978 but could not get rid of Mike'...

Re: Woolcock, Turnbull & Lupatelli: the three Good Frog Arti

Looking through the posts here I'm surprised no mention has been made of Harry Hargreaves and his Hayseeds comic strip. I used to read it in the London Evening News and have a Hayseeds book somewhere. I LOVE his cartooning. I too can't believe his art is not mentioned but that division between comi...

I've learned sometimes the obvious is the answer but I wondered whether this might be Douglas TRUMbull the SFX supervisor on 2001 and Close Encounters? Just my weird thinking!

Re: Leslie Otway.

That's great Steve! Here's the splash page to 'Gwen and the Gay Highwayman' - one of Leslie's stories from Schoolgirls' Picture Library. (Strange how the meaning of 'Gay' has changed since the 1960s). Brilliant to see Otway's work still appreciated! I see UK ComicsWiki references us! Well done whoe...
