Comics required by Rebellion
Help wanted!
I recently spent a very enjoyable few hours at Rebellion's HQ in Oxford as they needed some of my collection to scan for possible future publications.
They've just contacted me again about some other publications they need and the following are the ones I don't have. They are looking to buy them or borrow them (to scan). Can anyone help me source them please?
Look-In: vol.5 issue 15 – 05 April 1975.
Mirabelle: April – October 1967
New Mirabelle: 19 Feb 1977 – 22 Oct 1977 ( They have three issues: 5 Mar 1977, 12 Mar 1977, 6 Aug 1977, but otherwise need the whole run).

Fantastic that you got to go to Rebellion HQ !!!
I have the Look-in issue in question.
Not looking to sell but am more than happy to help by letting them borrow it.
Let me know how to do so,I presume by post.
Cheers

BTW: With my Look-in historian hat on,as they have already released The Tomorrow People and Six Million Dollar Man doesn't start until later in 75,my guess is that they are seeking to complete their "Kung-fu" strips for a future publication.
An excellent strip that would make an excellent book.

Re: Comics required by Rebellion
Does anyone know who owns the Polystyle archive. TV Comic had the Daleks, Doctor Who, Fireball XL5, Supercar, Space Patrol and Avengers. Not great art but cult series'. Also Lone Ranger and Range Rider strips by Mike Noble.
And then there's Countdown and TV Action.

Re: Comics required by Rebellion
I believe Rebellion do, but the rights for the strips rest with the programme makers, so they are unable to republish any of them. Same as Look-in strips like 6 million dollar manstevezodiac wrote: ↑14 Jul 2024, 22:51Does anyone know who owns the Polystyle archive. I think you are totally correct here with two exceptions:
The Daleks strip from TV Century 21 is currently owned by Express Newspapers.
The Doctor Who strip from TV Comic,Countdown and TV Action publishing rights currently rest with Panini.

Re: Comics required by Rebellion
I didn't mention the TV Century 21 Dalek strips as I have the two different reprint collections so was aware they had been republished.

Re: Comics required by Rebellion
Not correcting you, it's just one of those Aspergers things where we have perfectionist traits and insist on pinpoint accuracy. I could often be seen in my office after everyone had gone home because I'd started paying a pile of invoices and just couldn't go home leaving it half finished. That's why Tuvok and Seven of Nine are my favourite Voyager characters. It always annoyed me when Neelix tried to get Tuvok to 'join in the fun" he's Vulcan, he doesn't do fun, you berk.

I feel I must elucidate.
The reason I made the mistake of the strip in TV Century 21 "The Daleks"......
You quite clearly posted above "TV Comic had the Daleks,Doctor Who...."
Well in reality TV comic had the DR Who strip but didn't have any Daleks strip.
I do hope that that explains why I made the mistake;I simply presumed that you were referring to a Daleks strip, which existed outside of Tv Comic.

Re: Comics required by Rebellion
I was basing it on those very rare TV Comics with the front cover Dalek stories. Didn't realise it was Dr. Who and the Daleks. I stand corrected. (But not for long, ageing knees don't you know)
Re: Comics required by Rebellion
To be honest Steve,I am guilty of the mistake as should have realised what you were referring to.stevezodiac wrote: ↑24 Jul 2024, 16:33I was basing it on those very rare TV Comics with the front cover Dalek stories. I only have Century TV 21 annuals and a few old issues, was before my time.
I have on this very forum asked questions about it and you have been the one to answer.
So you are obviously an expert on that publication.
ANYHOW....
What is interesting about our posts is it brings us to the "Dr Who and the Daleks " strip in TV comic.
So...Yes,this was just the DR Who strip being retitled but ties in with everything you and I have posted about here.
According to Paul Scoones excellent "The Comic Strip Companion";TV Century 21 elected to discontinue the Daleks series after 2 years and therefore royalty payments of a fiver per week ended.
So TV Comic then purchased the rights but it cost them double and frankly at 10 guineas for the Daleks and the already established fee of 20 guineas for the Dr Who strip, they combined the two and retitled the strip.
And history was made.
SO:MASSIVE THANK YOU STEVE !!!
Genius as always, you made our discussion conclude with comic greatness ie a road from CTV1 to TV Comic.
