Well, hello there!
Re: What comics did you buy today?
A quick summary of my most recent purchases this month:
Four 1970 editions of June and SF via Amazon arrived safely.
One 1968 Diana via E Bay likewise
Also, both volumes of "The Tomorrow People" Look-In comic anthologies, packed with interesting articles too, via AUK (cheers, Jim!).
Whilst I was looking on the AUK site, I discovered some other interesting books and graphic novels, with "The Perfect Collection" by Barnaby Eaton-Jones taking my interest. I'd never even heard of this series.
With curiosity growing, I took the plunge and bought it via Amazon (AUK only had dearer autographed book available). Very enjoyable strips and stories.
I noticed that one of the writers and artists of "Perfect" was Jessica Martin: I remember her on TV during the 1980s and early 90s, often appearing on shows with either Bobby Davro or Gary Wilmot or on quiz shows, as well as doing impersonations and lending her voice to early episodes of "Spitting Image" and a pre-school cartoon she voiced with Wilmot called "The Junglies" (viewed by me when with a hangover/dozed off in front of Tv during late night film).
Oh, and for good measure, two 1970 editions of the "Radio Times", which somehow captures the time of then quite well.

Will add - as I can't seem to locate the DIDN'T buy thread:
I'm still new and learning about this E Bay thing, and have had a couple of frustration:
Five 1970 June and SFs I ordered failed to arrived. Thankfully the dealer kindly refunded me. Still, I'd have preferred those comics (some editions I'd not got in that job lot), and it annoys me that these comics could now be in the hands of a non-comic fan, who won't respect them. This frustration did cause me to write a negative review which got me a telling-off, so I had to re-write and apologise, pointing out that I have Autism and I have and do often unintentionally put my foot in it.
Prior to that, I put in a good bid to buy 6 editions of Schoolfriend from 1962-64. I made the mistake of absent-mindedly logging off before bidding ended, and I was outbid by just 50p at the death (the humiliation!)! Lesson learned: remember when bidding ends and stay online until the deadline ends.
Still, if we all didn't have these frustrations, disappointments and live and learn situations, then none of us would be collectors! Goes with the territory I guess.
To end on a positive: I received a discount voucher from a dealer via E Bay who specialises in comics and old books. Will check these out, must have noticed I look for comics a lot on E Bay.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Just had delivery of a Dandy comic no.426 from 1950 in FN- condition, and a Whoopee comic from January 28th 1978 to marry with two pages of Supermum artwork that I sourced direct from the artist Dicky Howett.

I've had the same problem with comics not arriving it turned out that they were at my local royal mail delivery office.DavidKW wrote: ↑27 Jul 2024, 09:07Will add - as I can't seem to locate the DIDN'T buy thread:

Its worth checking to see if they ended up there and royal mail failed to post a note saying they were there.
My most recent purchases are five issues of the Wizard from the late 1940s, I got from an antique shop in Lincoln. I really like the busy covers they have, although by todays standards they are quite offensive. The insides are all text stories which I'm not the biggest fan of. It looks like one of my copies was missing a middle page. I assume like the Beano at the same time, they had one page glued into the middle of the comic, and thats the one that fell out. The page numbering is also a bit weird, they have like page 170 but its only like (I'm guessing here) a 16 page comic. I guess they encouraged readers to bind a year's issues into one and thats what the pages are counting.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Yes I have a bag full of forties Hotspurs and noticed some had ten or 14 pages, this meant there was a single leaf glued in rather than a double page folded in two. All down to paper rationing at the time.Tin Can Tommy wrote: ↑06 Aug 2024, 20:31I've had the same problem with comics not arriving it turned out that they were at my local royal mail delivery office.DavidKW wrote: ↑27 Jul 2024, 09:07Will add - as I can't seem to locate the DIDN'T buy thread:
