That's truly fantastic, Brisey - and my childhood dream come true. Now all I need is to gain a spare 40 grand and lose a spare 20 lbs, and I'm all set.

I'd have settled for a wrist-controlled robot army, but the iron fish was always my real dream...

[img:468:597]http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2006/1 ... 68x597.jpg[/img] The likeness is uncanny! But a spare 40 grand would have to go on a wrist controlled Air Force for me!
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I loved The Iron Fish! Can't remember much about those two soppy kids in it but the look of the sub was great.

Perhaps time for it to return to The Beano, now it's a reality? :)

Me neither, except that they didn't know they were born! It just wasn't the same down at our local pool in the upside down canoe.

And now I find out that goody-two-shoes Tintin had one an' all!!! Life is SO unfair.

Give one to Gloom and Blight, Steve. Could be an interesting strip.

So many of those old Thomson light adventure strips would work great today revamped with a humour/action angle. Done seriously, like they used to be, the kids would think them "cheesy" now, but as a humour/adventure series they might work. I just think it's a shame UK comics never developed the approach that Eagle Eye, The Cloak, and I-Spy had, instead of overdosing readers to exhaustion on naughty-kid slapstick. Bananaman is about the closest thing that came to that comedy-action approach in recent years.

As an aside, there was a Tintin exhibition at the Greenwich Maritime Museum a couple of years ago and they had a replica of the shark submarine built for the Herge Foundation by Belgian Engineering and Art students.

A great exhibition and I spent far too much at the gift shop.
cor!
