I agree, all the characters are on model and that's a brilliant piece of artwork. Well done! (Hope you had a happy birthday too by the way).

If I had to pick a favourite from your drawing I'd probably go for Mr. Meecher as he's so in character, but I also thought your Postman Prat was a great likeness.

Wow Harry, just saw the comments you got when you posted it on the Dandy's Facebook page. All the artists whose characters you drew seemed to love it! We've seen your name in the Beano as a writer, how long before you end up in one of those two as an artist? Seriously, it looks like all the current artists would give you a glowing reference! :D

Ha ha! I had to do Brian being a right vandal as usual - and Dragon was just the right size... ;)
Thank you! I used the comics I brought with me for references - I think I did a fairly decent job at copying their styles! (Not keen on my attempts at Little Dermot O'Leary, Harry Hill, Jibber and Korky though...)

Thank you very much, Jonny! Most kind of you! :D (Also, yes, I had a brilliant birthday, thanks! :D)

Wow, thank you! Quite pleased with Mr Meecher and Postman Prat - although my favourites are Frosty, Count Slugula, Dad from My Freaky Family, Fred and Sid from Watch this Space, Brian Damage and Genie. :)

Thank you, James! Yeah, I had some fantastic feedback from them about it - made me feel really good about myself!
Wow!! I hope I do end up as an artist - that really would be "living the dream"!

Thank you very much, guys!! :D

Apologies for the double post but just resurrecting this thread with my latest piece!

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you the second of the Mega Dandy Fan-Art pictures after my previous one of the characters from October-December '11!

Sadly the file is far too big to stand any chance of being sent as it is so instead, click on the link below! If you're on deviantART - why not leave me a comment on it?

I've also got it on Facebook for any Facebook users on here which I shared last night on The Dandy's Facebook Page - if you are a Facebook user - please share with me your views and if you like - why not 'like' it?

If you like it, I'd also appreciate some of you to share your views on here - bits you like, bits you think I could improve - anything you can say that will help me!

I hope you like it!

Here are some cartoons of mine that were published in the Panelologist fanzine dated January 1976.

Those cartoons had me in mind of this! So funny, even Stan Lee had to praise it!

seeing some of us are digging up our cartoon past, here's some cartoon strips I done for D C Thomson, back in late 1987:

[the blue pen seen in the toolbox at bottom right is still being used by me 25 years later, in fact I was using the exact same pen on paid cartoonery this very morning]:

The exact same blue drawing pen from 1987, still in use:

I went to the Pop Up Festival in King's Cross today and spent the day surrounded by successful and talented artists who were never short of inspiration, which was a bit intimidating to someone with zero drawing ability and who has original ideas approximately once every six months. But I tried very hard (well, OK, I didn't) and eventually this popped out.

The final panels were literally scribbled down in the last couple of minutes before closing time and the whole was finished within less than an hour, so if it seems rushed and ill-thought-through, that's because it is.

I presume writing Caped Crusader and then crossing it out was deliberate? It works well.

Yes, it was.

I was more or less making the script up as I went along, and I didn't have time to make any revisions, hence a number of lines and details I'd change if I were to redo the whole thing from scratch.

Today I did some fan-art of the nitwit of a newt, The Dark Newt! I thought Lew's fantastic Dandy character was worthy of some fan-art for making me laugh for real every week since his debut!

Don't really know if this drawing belongs here, but there's nowhere else....

I'm getting paid for cartoons to illustrate a website on chicken-breeding.

Here's one of the less-'ruder' pics:

It's very good looks almost as if it was done by Lew himself.

My apologies for not commenting on this earlier, Harry. As I said on Facebook that's a great drawing. You're better than I was at your age. Keep it up!

Glad you like The Dark Newt mini-series. Only two episodes to go now...
