Digifiend wrote:Titan seem to have a distribution problem, as WHSmith still had the previous issue of Doctor Who Comic 8 days after the new one should've come out. They also didn't have Simpsons Comics, issue 21 of which should've been out the same day as DWC, and I've missed issue 20 because, it seems, they never got them in.
Just bought these off Ebay for the equivalent of about £30 (inc, postage). I'm usually not that much into American comics (or at least, I haven't been for many years), but I was excited by this little lot.
That printed stamp across most of the covers is a bit annoying, but can't have everything I suppose. At least it doesn't appear to be on that copy of Spider-Man #77.
Just arrived in the post - Football's Comic Book Heros. The book has been around since 2009 and I don't know why I've never seen it before until last week on ebay. I can't wait to read it. There's Billys Boots, Limp along Leslie, Roy of the Rovers, Raven, Dozy Danny etc etc and a host of wonderful football comic covers from the 20s, 30s etc. Its a hardback with dustwrapper virtually unread and I got it for £3.07 free post from baham books (they have a couple left).

I've got this; it's a great book. A most comprehensive and interesting read, with plenty of visual resource material.
There is another similar book out called "Comic Book Hero" by (the) Barrie Tomlinson, which is just as good, whilst providing enough points of difference for anyone to buy both books and enjoy them separately.
When these were first published we made quite an extensive list of corrections of the errors these books contained on this site. Much to the annoyance of one of the writers if memory serves.

Car boot day.
The smell of the hot dogs the roar of the crowd.
my childhood reading of comics ended in the 50's therefore I am not too familiar with what came afterwards.
It would be probably 20 years later I started collecting comics and annuals.
I was pleasantly surprised to come across POW annual which was filled with comic adventure stories which I bought for a £1, plus I bought two Wizzer and Chips comics at 20p each.
These items are not that old and not rare but as the image shows for me at any rate worth buying.
