I liked Charles Grigg. I'll look out for that book.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
For all the Charlie Grigg fans here - and there are many of us, the book is available from Charliegrigg.com for only £10.

Received fifteen early issues of Bimbo yesterday. Nice Bill Ritchie Baby Crockett on the back covers. Also Tom Thumb by Watkins.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Last year, I bought a reproduction copy of the 1958 Beano Book. I decided this morning to buy a reproduction of the first Beano Book (the 1940 Beano Book)
I should get that by the time I get back from holidays in early March (it takes around ten days for the Book to be printed and sent to SkyPax (I will have that sent by the 12th of February

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I had a bit of luck a couple of weeks ago at the auctions and bought a load of ealry 2000ADs. I've got them all so I have managed to shift some of them through social media. I am already swapping 8 key issues for 480 Commandos!
I also sold a small parcel of them and with the proceeds I bought 16 PL Holiday Specials. As the collector is a Commando man, he kindly decided to surprise me so when I opened the box, there was not just the Holiday Specials I was expecting but also a batch of randoms from Buster Adventure Library, Valiant, Lion, Micron Combat, Western and Conflict to name but a few.

I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Over the weekend, I rebought some Oor Wullie annuals I had had growing up, and had wore out from reading so often: 1995, 1997, 1999, and 2001.
Dearest one was the 1997 one, at £1.89, so I don't think I did too badly over all for all of them. Total spending (including postage fees) was: £7.24.
The 1997 and 2001 annuals have been posted, just waiting on the others now!

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Recently bought a full year (1984) of Tiger and am just waiting for its last issues for 1985 before it merged with Eagle.
I also just ordered the 2020 Specials Bundle from the 2000AD Shop.

Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Monster Fun (2022-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-).
Re: What comics did you buy today?
I won today a 1948 issue of the Beano, issue dated the fortnight ending 7/8/1948
And if I am also correct, this would have been the 10th anniversary issue (although DCT wouldn't have celebrated the event then.)
Update: 14/2/2020
Final purchase before my holidays, and bought volumes two to six of Jamie Smart's Bunny Vs. Monkey series from Book Depository. (I would have bought No. 1, but it's currently out of stock. I'll try again through the week)
I also preordered the book King's Reach by John Sanders.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I've bought the new David Roach book about British comic artists celebrating the famous and not so famous contributors to British comics. And yes, for once, I have treated myself to the limited edition hardback.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I've still got my focus on re-collecting Oor Wullie annuals. Managed to get all of the noughties and new 10's annuals (so 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019) for £1.50 a book! I will be going back to try to get earlier ones soon, but with this I have from 1995 onwards so all the ones that I can remember reading.
(Really should try to do the same for The Broons...)
Also: side question which is probably the wrong place - did anyone ever pick up the book for the 2016 stage adaptation of The Broons? Trying to work out if it would be worth spending the money on...

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I am a more a case of what arrived today rather than bought. My subscription for Commando arrived along with a parcel from Abingdon which contained 12 various Battle, War and Commando (all pre-decimal), 2 Sexton Blakes from 1958, issues 3 and 4 of Fans' Star Library, a Pearsons Sea War, Pocket Romance Library 32 and issue 161 of Totem.
However, the most intriguing part of this parcel were 3 prose libraries with a cover price of 3d. One was from the New Moon Series and the other two were from the True Love Series. All three were published by William Stevens Ltd and each copy is 52 pages long including the covers.
It looks like I have found another rabbit hole to go down!

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Yesterday I received 23 issues of Countdown from eBay for which I paid £29.99. All good except for one coupon cut.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Wow, my luck is in lately.
Another landmark issue this morning, and it's the Beano's 20th anniversary issue (week ending 2/8/1958)
This will be sent via Skypax later this week.
Only the 20th anniversary issue of the Dandy to go. (and of course the 15 remaining 1990 issues of the Topper to go.
Update: 20/2/2020
Made the first of my few visits to the Basement Bookshop over the next week and a half, and picked up the last Radio Fun annual (1960)
A quick cursory look today had a few annuals (mainly Chatterbox from the late teens and early 20's.
I will find some other stuff hopefully next week.
I also bought the 2020 specials bundle from Rebellion.
Update: 22/2/2020
Bought today a 4 issue subscription to the Phoenix from Newsstand.
