Re-collecting 1963 Dandy comics (I mostly collect the comics that I `used` to have circa 1961 - 71) So far got 39 1963 issues, 46 from 1964, 46 from 1965, 47 from 1966, 47 from 1967, 27 from 1968, 10 from 1969 and just 6 from 1970. Mostly getting them on E.Bay when I can.
A Face unclouded by thought.

I’ll be auctioning a load from 1971 from Colin Noble’s collection soon on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/4144682 ... 150337849/alanultron5 wrote: ↑09 Aug 2022, 12:53Re-collecting 1963 Dandy comics (I mostly collect the comics that I `used` to have circa 1961 - 71) So far got 39 1963 issues, 46 from 1964, 46 from 1965, 47 from 1966, 47 from 1967, 27 from 1968, 10 from 1969 and just 6 from 1970. Coming from Book Depository, I have the Badtime Bedtime Stories book, and today, I finally completed the 1990 run of the Topper with yet another bundle of issues.
I should get the former very soon, and the latter in October.

Visited my first car boot in months and bought
SMASH ANNUAL 1976
VALIANT ANNUAL 1971
WAGON TRAIN ANNUAL 1960
all at 20p each.
One stall had some Disneyland comics I was interesed in but I didn't want to pay the asking price of £2 each.
Well! christmas is around the corner and I need to buy another lump of coal

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Today secured three Dandy comics from 1958, No's 846, 850 & 868 in VG condition. In particular No.850 was primarily of interest being the comic I needed for a piece of Hugh Morren art I own. Hard to find is an understatement. Been looking for months without luck. Anyway, be nice to see the art featured in the comic when it arrives. Pic to follow a.s.a.p.
Update 22/09/2022: Just had delivery. Comics on the whole are as stated in Very good condition with No's 846 & 850 and only one not so being graded Good - with partial detached cover & small 1mm paper loss to front cover (centre) with No.868 comic. All show slight tanning, this likely due being stored in attic open to the elements.
Anyway, the important thing is that I've got the comic needed. The Dandy No.850 from 1958. It's in VG condition, is complete, although with slight spine roll. It does have a noticeable dust line along the front cover that gives the impression of a fold, but thankfully the rear cover that features the Just Jimmy strip drawn by Hugh Morren is unmarked.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Two weeks ago at Erroll car boot sale I picked up a big bundle of comics.
11 issues from 1958 and 5th of the original Hotspur, and 95 issues of the relaunch with a big spread of dates from 1960 to 79.
Im far from an expert, but I thought the condition of them all was remarkable - so was the price - £20 for the lot!

Hey, nice find Stevendoig. £20 is not a bad price to pay considering the amount & condition of the comics.Stevendoig wrote: ↑23 Sep 2022, 13:21Two weeks ago at Erroll car boot sale I picked up a big bundle of comics.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I picked up a copy of the Knockout Fun Book 1953 for only a pound.
It even has all the pages.
I don't really collect Knockout but I recognised the cover as being drawn by Dandy artist Eric Roberts (most famous for Winker Watson) and the low price persuaded me.
I also managed to pick up a 1950 Magic-Beano book (off ebay) recently that didnt have all the pages unfortunately. I've also just finished collecting all the Beezer books with artwork from Leo Baxendale in. These early beezer books are probably some of my favourite annuals in my collection, the full colour artwork is lovely.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
My son rang a few days ago to say he had picked up a couple of Playhour annuals from a carboot sale while he was on holiday.
They cost him a £1 each and luckily ones I had not got .
He delivered them today and I paid him.
I really like these annuals
