Re: What comics did you buy today?
Pickep up a box of annuals from a charity shop today for a tenner. Quite an eclectic collection!
Hotspur 1970, Roy Rogers 1956, topper 1966, beezer 1974, beano 1971, and dandy 1971 (I already have this one, but it's much nicer than mine!)
Mickey mouse 1980, Donald and mickey 1973. Mary, mungo and midge 1973 and the eighth blue Peter book.
Two girls ones I'll keep - Judy 1972 and June 1972
And a few I'd be happy to get rid of if anyone's interested.
Girl girl girl! - 1972 & 1973
Girls crystal - 1971 & 1972
And schoolgirls annual 1972

I bought a copy of the topper Index (topper tales) from ebay.
I need to give it a good read but its excellent so far. It has lots of illustrations. More than I expected.
I'm collecting collector's guide...
The last one I got was the book of the Beezer which must have been almost 10 years ago.
I just checked my old posts and it was 10 years... viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4859&start=30.
Time flies too fast....
Now I'm just looking out for a copy of the Magic Index

No it doesnt look like the seller had any other indexes for sale. They are selling a lot of different items. But other than some Lion comics and an annual no other comics related items.
Re: What comics did you buy today?
Three Film Fun annuals 1954,1955,1958 arrived in the post today ordered by my son for me.
I now have most of the Film Fun annuals from 1949 onwards
When gardening in the summer better not mention I need more hardy annuals if my son visits.

Picked up the sparky book 1968 and the Eagle annual 1970 from a dealer in town the day. £5.00 for the two.

Doctor Who Fan Hat on.
Doctor Who Magazine Issue 584.
Stopped getting it years ago but just taken out a new subscription now that David Tennant is back on board (even if it is for the short term).
Loved him as the Doctor and better still, the comic strip in the mag continues straight after his re-generation sequence on telly a few weeks back.
PS Also love the classic logo. Reminds me of the Jon Pertwee days (who is my favourite Doctor btw).

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I bought a copy of Dc Thomsons firsts from ebay (off seller phil-comics aka Phil Shrimpton)
It reprints the first issues of the Beano, Dandy, Magic and the Big Five story papers.
I've got reprints of the first issues of the Beano and Dandy already but Magic and the Big Five are new.
I'm not much of a story paper enthusiast but its still a really interesting insight into children's popular culture from 100 years ago.
The books from 1978, so there's more time between then and now, than between its publishing and when the first Beano was published.
Also had a sticker for Norman Shaw's book shop in the inside cover as well as a slip (Image attached) for buying copies from D. Posner's Vintage Magazine Shop. (With a discount for Golden Fun readers)
I assume none of these shops still exist but I always find these tidbits into the world of comic (and magazine) collecting interesting.
Sometimes I feel like I'm collecting not just comics but stuff about collecting comics itself.
I also picked up a copy of the Magic Beano Book 1950. Meaning I know have all the Beano annuals since 1950
Its taken me months to find a good copy on eBay (I bought one with missing pages which had been mistakenly described as no missing pages)
And when I finally got a copy the inscription inside the front cover was for not just the town I live in, but the road behind my house. Talk about coincidences
