There is one copy currently advertised twice on eBay for an asking price of £20.97. I don't consider that to be astronomical, Nagorama, not by a long chalk. Of course if people can't afford the price but would be happy just to read it they could always go to their local library and try to borrow a copy through the Inter-Library-Loan system.
I saw it elsewhere for £40 and up to £60. I already do find £20.97 expensive :) and I am perfectly entitled to think so, especially since you can find it for a fraction of the price in boot sales and the likes. But then you have to be patient and keep your eyes peeled for it.

I got this today, not really a comic book but more like a nursery one, featuring funny animals: Dickory Dock Annual 1983 :)

At no time have I said that the £20.97 book was or was not expensive. I have merely pointed out that the price being asked for it wasn't astronomical.

I saw the same book languishing for a few weeks in a charity shop at £28 pounds a price I woudn't pay but someone eventually bought it.If you are looking for comics or annuals as an investment then obviously large comic sets or comics with free gifts are the best bet.
I know that the 1973 RUPERT annual with the WHITE BEAR or BROWN BEAR COVER variation is worth a lot of money ,trouble is I can never remember which is the valuable one.
Generally comics or annuals are not of great value they are just bought as a hobby by a collector.
Just like buses if I don't like the asking price I wait for the next one to come along.
If I picked up a comic for 30p I would have no problem of selling it at 50p with both buyer and seller being happy.

I still find it astronomical and I simply wouldn't pay that price. If you find it challenging or difficult to understand, I can repeat :D

Given that I can obviously see the difference in meaning between expensive and astronomical, which bit that you think might be challenging to me or difficult for me to understand do you think I might need you to repeat?

This is fascinating stuff. There's a personal message option so you can really enjoy yourselves off the public forum and make the rest of us jealous.

I am sorry it has come to this but Phoenix is pretty much on his/her own now, as I have added him to my ignore-list. In other words, I can't see their posts. I would like to stress that I don't welcome private messages so there is no need or call to invite him/her to contact me privately to pursue this tiresome conversation.
Thanks. :)

No comics but today I made my first ever visit to the Antique Fair at Covent Garden. Only one seller had comics but they were mainly issues of Battle for 50p each but she did have some nice copies of Silver Star women's magazine which I bought. The seller seemed to specialise in printed ephemera which suited me.

Have you ever tried the antique market in Angel? I'm in the area every week but have been too busy to have a good mooch around. I did check one book stall out who had quite a few annuals but his prices would warrant entry to our "Ebay, how much?" section!

One of the shops on my road had a box full of annuals outside it yesterday. The guy said "Help yourself" so I got the Dandy Book 1990...

Noticed a Roy of the Rovers and a couple of Beanos I already had, plus a few others... Not complaining for free, unclipped as well!

I asked the wee lad if he'd like a Beano or something, but he's currently of the "Star Wars or Nothing" mindset ;)

I won three `Sparky Free gifts` from Langley & Jones via `Saleroom` site! The 1969 `Flip Frog` the 1970 `Flicker Pics` and a better (Much better!) condition `Zoomer Boomerang` from 1969. Bidding was `BIG` lost out on 1972 `Wot-A-Racket!` flyer and one of the 1974 `Sir-Prize` gifts! But three is ok-especially the `Flicker Pics` that one I REALLY wanted!!

There was a `Super Tooter` from issue 500 (1974) too, but I have a superb one already! Asked them to notify me if any more come their way!
A Face unclouded by thought.
