What comics did you buy today?
Re: What comics did you buy today?
This afternoon I won two October 1967 issues of Tiger from EBay.
They have filled a gap so that I have a run of 1033 issues from 24.04.1965 through to the final issue, 30.03.1985.
Very happy!

Managed to win a few more Commandos and the annuals arrived. I was glad to see that I got a bonus with the internal front and back cover pages being done by Thelwell!
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I have issues with my hands so I have had to cut down on the computer work. I am working on some alternatives so I will see how they go and let you know.geoff42 wrote:Hi,Col, when's your next update on Warlord... long overdue.

Its definitely from the 1950s. Thanks for the info. I'll send it to the gallery here. I put a couple of dozen Lion covers onto Grand Comics database yesterday which is quite rewarding.

I'm filling in a few gaps, a handful of issues didn't make it over here at the time. Was a pain missing the odd week here and there.

And that's another 8 pre-decimal issues off my hit list for my Commando collection.

Nice one, Colin. And as we're on the subject of pocket libraries, I visited my friend Chris who has City Centre Comics in Glasgow's West End, where he dug out a nice, wee pile of pocket libraries for me to have a gander at. I bought the lot.
They were:-
2 x Micron Combat Picture Library, #548 & 894
Top Secret Picture Library #3 & 6
Action Picture Library #13
Micron Cowboy Adventure Library #910
Pocket Chiller Library #122
Sabre Library #57 & 60
Club Library - Secret Service #3, 4 and 16.
Plus 4 American titles:-
Exciting comics #60, 1948 (Black Terror story)
Showcase #52 (Cave Carson)
The Man From Uncle (Gold Key) #14
Wyatt Earp (Dell) #11
Also 2 issues of the Italian pocket, Diabolik.

Always fun to be able to match up the gifts to the comics.Adam Eterno wrote:Repatriated from a US seller:

Its a skill in itself to be able to recognise when something is a comic free gift rather than just a childs throwaway toy.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Yesterday, a gentleman from Clacton who had been pointed in my direction by Central City Comics in Ipswich turned up on my doorstep with a boxload of what he described as old British Marvel comics he'd found under the bed in his family home. He didn't want an exorbitant amount of money; in fact, he said there was no hurry to pay him, he'd just leave them for me to look through when I had time and if they were worth anything, I could make him an offer. He had otherwise been going to throw them out.
I put the box to one side, and looked through it this morning. There were probably a couple of hundred issues of various mid seventies Marvel titles, the stuff that tends to go for a quid or two on ebay, incuding one issue of Captain Britain and a handful of Planet of the Apes. And in amongst them, half a dozen random American Marvels in terrible condition. And then, at the bottom, a couple of rather nice Marvel Treasury editions, which sadly I'd already got.
Oh, and a complete run of Vulcan. Including the three giveaway mini comics from Valiant. I almost forgot about those...

Have you seen what that full run of Vulcan went for on compal?
I bought a full run this year on eBay for £40.
The compal price was incredible.
