God, that Chortle With Chums book was hard to find. Never did see it on the shelves in either WHSmith or Waterstones, so ended up ordering it in for in store collection. Also got the Beano and Dandy annuals.

Amongst other things, I received the Miller Western Comic Books by John Fairclough which is a great guide to the Len Miller reprints of the 1940s, 50s and 60s. I have many if them but now I have a definitive list of the ones I still need.

Christmas Eve.
Christmas
has started and while the missus watches a Christmas Bake-Off, I am in my favourite chair reading the first gifts of the season - The Dandy Annual and Beano Annual.
What a great start.
Merry Christmas!

Going to bed early, after watching the Christmas Special of Call the Midwife, to read my 'Celebration of Dudley D Watkins'.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
Love all of the Christmas comics. I’m reading the Valiant Summer Special that I received today which may seem odd but it completes my set of all of the Valiant Specials so I’m chuffed to bits!
Re: What did you get for Christmas?
Doug, I really must encourage you to start a thread listing out not only your Top 10 hard to finds now secured but also what Holy Grail and others still remain illusive. It would be a fascinating read.

Ha! I’ll have a think on that Shiner. There have been and are, so many tough ones to find.

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
I know I'm late to the Christmas party, but this year had money so bought myself another page of Hammer Halls of Horror "Monster Club" Magazine artwork from 1983 direct from esteemed Horror artist himself, John Bolton. The page #14 featured the stripper taking all her clothes off including her skin, lol. Yeah, festive or what!

Well, hello there!

Re: What did you get for Christmas?
I got some reprints of the 1940s Beano Annuals. I like seeing how much the Beano has changed since then. I always find a lot of the 1940s stuff quite amateurish? Except for Dudley Watkins excellent artwork, which I have even more appreciation for now because I also got this years Beano/Dandy annual which was a celebration of his work.
I'm not sure if my perceived amateurishness was because so many of the best artists had been recruited for the war effort at the time though.
