I got the Viz christmas special and the Beano Christmas special last week. They must have started a few years ago but I'm not exactly sure when but the Beano are doing a christmas special as well as a summer special now.
This is the first issue of Viz, I've bought in a long while. Its quite strange to see Tom Paterson's artwork in there now.
I need to give both a proper read, my stack of unread comics is just growing and growing...

Tin Can Tommy, the first Beano Christmas special came out in 2014, so it has been going now for seven years.

After reading both the Viz and Beano christmas specials. I decided to put a mini-review here.
The Viz christmas special is ok here. I liked the Tom Paterson art work although I much prefer his work in the Beano and Dandy and the recent Monster Fun. I think colour adds a lot to it. Plus I just didnt find it that funny. Thats a problem I have with Viz overall really though, I find the humour very much hit and miss. Sometimes its absolutely hilarious and other times I just feel confused not sure where the joke is.
This years Beano Christmas special though was excellent. Its one long story but there's also a number of strips by other artists that link in to the main story. I think it works really well and is honestly some of the funniest stuff the Beano's done in years. I actually laughed at some of the jokes. They did something similar in this year's summer special too which I also really enjoyed. The artwork is top notch through out with a couple of exceptions. I'm not a big fan of the new Calamity James artist, it's hard to explain but it just feels a bit off. The only other thing I disliked is the puzzle pages but that might be more because they just dont appeal to me as an adult.

Hey, no probs SID. And well done for your Christmas Beano, Doctor Who & Radio/TV Times mags. Great to hear.
Funny you mention Radio Times & TV Times. Got up on the attic over 100 Doctor Who themed Radio Times in mint condition. All are secured in 2000AD comic bags.

Funny you mention that but back in the day, I used to collect Doctor Who themed
Radio Times too. But got rid of them when I did the Big Move up north.
