Imagine you're the editor of a new comic. It's going to have 32 pages and it's going to be all reprint. You can choose what to fill those pages with from ANY comic, ANY publisher, from ANY era. What would YOU choose? The only limitations are:

Strips you choose have to have their original length, meaning that if you choose The Steel Claw, for example, it's two pages, not more.

One of your pages must be a jokes or letters page.

Two of your pages must be set aside for advertisements.

The cover may be either a new full page illustration, OR a strip. BUT if it's a strip, it must be one (or ones) that's previously been designed as a cover strip.

Off you go!

A fairly stiff mission statement there bud, seeing as I'm celebrating my birthday an' all!But for me any publication worth its salt would have to include Adam Eterno,Spellbinder,Rat Pack,Some Mummies Do 'Ave 'Em,The Spider,Timequake...Well,it is my birthday after all!

Glad to see one person's understood the exercise and followed the pagination example. You'll make a good editor Bananafan! Now, for the pages you chose that were old cover strips (Biffo, Ginger etc) would you replace the old comic logo or leave it as it was?

Change it. i've already designed a front cover, but don't know how to get images up on this forum.

As for the ones inside, I'd just give them bigger title logos!

Good mix Paul but you're cramming too much in. Several of your two page strips were three pagers. The middle pages of a 32 page comic would be pages 16 and 17.

Meant to have a go at this before I left, but try this for a mix.

Cover and page 32 True story as done by Jack Glass.

Pages 2 - 4 Invasion (2000AD)

Pages 5 - 7 Judge Dredd (2000AD)

Pages 8 - 10 Wilson (Hotspur/Hornet)

Pages 11 - 13 Johnny Cougar (Tiger)

Page 14 Toad In The Hole (Victor)

Page 15 Country Cuzzins (Victor)

Pages 16 - 18 Killer Kane (Warlord) but only if drawn by Ian Kennedy and done in that wonderful three tone of black, blue and white. 8)

Pages 19 - 21 Braddock VC (Victor)

Pages 22 - 24 The Rat Pack (Battle)

Pages 25 - 26 Death Game 1999 (Action)

Pages 27 - 29 Look Out For Lefty! (Action)

Pages 30 - 31 Kids Rule OK (Action)

I am a child of the 70's so many posters (Sheldon, etc) may not have heard of most of these. I have left out so many good ones like Mantracker (Crunch), Morgyn The Mighty (Victor), Major Eazy (Battle), Secret Files of The Luftwaffe (Warlord), Strontium Dog (Starlord/2000AD) and Holocaust Squadron (Warlord). I could go on but you get the idea!

Next time, let's do an annual! :D
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

I actually get to be the editor, after a fashion, a couple of days a week when I teach kids to draw comics. By the end of every session they've created a comic which we run off on the photocopier and they take home with them.

You can see a selection of their front covers at http://comicfestival.co.uk (Click Art Class then click Covers), or go direct to
http://geocities.com/jonathanqkirby/mas ... llery.html

My favourite titles include 'MON THEN MONA LISA, DEEP FRIED KITTENS and I'M NOT GAY. Kids today eh?

Returning to the subject my favourite weekly comic would be all new. But if I were to go reprint, I'd like a book that enabled me to read my favourite serialised stories in their complete form. My faves..?

QUEEN OF THE SEAS - Ken Reid (was it Pow, Wham or Smash?)
THE TWELVE TASKS OF ADAM STRONG (was that its name?) in Smash, drawn by Eric Bradbury
TURVILLE'S TOUCHSTONE/SPELLBINDER - Geoff Campion (Lion)
TALES OF TOLLGATE SCHOOL - (Lion), who was the artist?
Kev F - Comic Genius
