Starlord UK 1978 IPC Comic

Post by jim244 »

Probably my favourite UK comic of all time ;only 22 issues,I Summer Special and 3 Annuals published.
Obviously it joined 2000AD when it folded and arguably saved 2000AD with Ro-Busters and Strontium Dog strips taking the mighty 20000AD forward.
Any other fans of this publication?

Along with Warrior, the greatest comics of their era. Outselling 2000AD too when they merged. Planet of the Damned probably my favourite, although Mind Wars and Timequake impressive.
(Laser Specialist by the way)

Planet of the Damned also my favourite, loved Timequake and Mind Wars but Holocaust is my second fave strip.
As you say,Star Lord was outselling 2000AD but the better quality paper and more colour meant it couldn't compete long term as although sold for a higher price (2p more if my memory serves me) predictions were that the price would have to rise and ultimately was not sustainable long term.At least that is what I have read,I have no inside knowledge.
Warrior....WOW...Great to hear that classic mentioned again,to be honest I only ever managed to buy some of the earlier issues as most of my local newsagents didn't stock it.V for Vendetta,Marvel Man....Absolute classic mag.
You have good taste Sir.
(Time Warden by the way)
