John Batchelor was an artist with an amazing pen & ink technique who drew for comics like DC Thomson's Romeo during the late 1950s and early 1960s. As this example from a comic strip biography of Marilyn Monroe shows he also had a real talent for capturing accurate likenesses. However, one thing I've always wondered is whether he was the same John Batchelor who went on to make his name as a celebrated painter of aircraft, as well as producing a number of cutaway drawings for titles like Eagle. I'd be really grateful if the great Kashgar could provide any more information about this seriously underrated artist.
