Looking for the original of a Spanish published strip

Post by DEI99 »

This strip appeared in JANA #71 (September 1984). The artist was identified as Andy Tew. I would need to know which is its original name and comic where it appeared, and would appreciate some biographical information about Andy Tew (I cannot find him in Goggle). Thank you very much indeed in advance for any help

The story is "Wonderwoofa" from the Bunty Annual 1984. Details of the Annual, and a matching panel from the story, are here:

I'm afraid I can't help with biographical information on the artist, which you may find hard to come by.

Thanks. Was It a single story or had the character its own series?

Yes, there seems to have been a series. There was another story in the 1983 Annual. There was also a series of stories in the Bunty Summer Specials: 1981 (at which point the series was called "Super Mutt"), 1982 and 1983. This suggests that there was also a series in the weekly Buntys, probably somewhere between 1980 and 1983, but I can't find it in the few weeklies I have for that period.

Thanks. I looked for BUNTY issues at https://britishcomics.wordpress.com/ without success.

BTW, Annuals were usually issued in the summer of the year mentioned, weren't they? In Spain, they usually appared on Xtmas of the precedent year: "Almanaque para XXXX"

Opps. My mistake. Those were the Summer Specials. So I suppose it was the same as here. For example, the 1983 Annual would had appeared in December 1982 (in Spain, many appeared even earlier, in November). wouldn't it?

Yes. Summer Specials were published in the same year as that named on the issue, Annuals in the year before. The 1983 Annual was published at the beginning of September 1982.
