Primo Marcarini's exhibition

Post by Sdeng »

Primo Marcarini (1920-1990) was an Italian cover artist who painted a lot of covers for comics all over Europe. He signed as P.MAR, or P.MARCA, or P.M., or MARCA-RINI, or P.MARCARINI, and many works of his are still available on the web.
The digital exhibition "PICTURE ARTSTUDIO MARCARINI" (from his studio's stamp) shows, till the end of august, twelve works in high definition, a bio and a few personal photos (never seen before) to discover the illustrator, the painter, the professional photographer.
A serious man who worked very hardly since 1950's to 1980's for hundreds of thousands of very, very curious young eyes.

Great artwork !!! A pulp-fiction influenced artist, maybe?

Thanks for posting this, Sdeng.

In case it's of interest, here's an example of his UK comic work.

Thank you, glad you appreciated!

He was one of those artist that could draw whatever, and quickly too: pulp, horror, erotic, romantic, western, you-name-it.
He is just almost unknown because he died too early to become a vintage time master, but I guess the amount of his original art still available is the demonstration of his quality and a kind of reward for being so understimated.
