Discuss all the girls comics that have appeared over the years. Excellent titles like Bunty, Misty, Spellbound, Tammy and June, amongst many others, can all be remembered here.
I'm afraid I don't have a copy of that issue, nor do I know which series it reprinted. If it's any help, though, here's a scan of the final 'Catch the Cat!' episode of the 1986 series:
Off hand I don't know whether that really was the end of the Cat, or if Marie kept her promise to return one day.
Thanks, Phil. Yes, Lucky Charm #25 reprints Catch the Cat.
This ending reminds me of a Leopardman story where the Leopardman from Buster is forced to fake his death by rigging his costume to be destroyed when he gets cornered and his identity threatened with exposure. Unlike the Cat the Leopardman was not sure whether he can return but is forced to when a Leopardman impersonator shows up masquerading as his 'ghost'.
I would not be surprised if the Cat had returned in a sequel - this probably is a sequel in itself. You say it was 1986; the original was in 1976, and the artist is different. If Marie did return, they probably left that ending open as well and never have Marie get caught or reveal herself - though I'd love to see the looks on the Nazis's and schoolgirls' faces when they see who the Cat really is! Incidentally, the artist here is Hugh Thornton-Jones. He illustrated at least one Cat story in the annuals. Robert MacGillivray illustrated at least two in the annuals, so he probably drew a Cat serial as well.
