Humour pages in girl comics..

Discuss all the girls comics that have appeared over the years. Excellent titles like Bunty, Misty, Spellbound, Tammy and June, amongst many others, can all be remembered here.

Girl's Crystal had a robot that would follow instructions literally... like her brothers car breaks down and she says "give him a push" so it pushes the brother.

If they ever wanted to bring back Spadger's Isle in a more PC version they could do worse than to have some astronauts stranded on a planet full of robots like that. In fact i might do it myself!

Here's a "Blunder Girl" story you may not have seen Peter.

Toots ran in the Bunty (not the same Toots as in the Bash Street Kids, she was much younger for a start) and Lettuce Leafe was in Girl (the original series) I don't have any pictures of either handy at the moment though (I'm about to go out actually)
Gone for 14 days...

From Judy there was Janie B. Quick and The Teaser Twins which to me looks like David Sutherland's work, but I could be wrong!

The scan is very low res, but I think the Teaser Twins might be Gordon Bell or very early Jim Petrie. A closer look would tell me for sure.

Janie B. Quick looks like the work of George Martin.

Here's a clearer image of the Teaser Twins. Also Naughty Dottie and Polly and Her Pram, both from Judy.

Being a fan of Mike Brown I really liked Brenda's Brownies and Wendy Witch in Sandie. Sadly I can't offer any scans as although I once had a huge pile of Sandies I sold them on ebay. Wish I hadn't now but just don't have the space to start collecting girl's comics.

I just checked and in the artists and writers section there is a post from me that shows these two strips - from a Sandie annual. The post was dated Sun Feb 08, 2009 and is titled Some Mike Brown Pages.

Nice Mike Brown examples, Im sure I have a Brenda's Brownies somewhere?

Peace, what year is your "Poly and her pram" example from? The scan below is from the 1965 annual, where she looks a completely different character to me!

I know annual strips can be different, but this seems extreme?

I think "Mini Ha-Ha" deserves a mention as well.

Matrix, the Polly and her Pram is from issue 610: 18/09/1971.
Interesting how different those two strips are, I wonder if that was just for the annual.

What comic is Mini Ha-Ha from?

Read the bottom.
Ask your newsagent to save "June and Pixie" for you every week!
So it's June then.

I think Mini was in Pixie before the merger.

Here is a one-page episode of Mini Ha-Ha from Pixie annual 1975, Phil. There is another later in the book.
