Thanks so much Steve,I looked it up today, apparently been going for over 20 years and I had zero idea, just knew of the two Manzes in London.
Will pay it a visit and post a review here.
I still haven't done this because my wife doesn't fancy it at all but it came up as a discussion at work last week (before I was made redundant on Friday...Lol not connected !!) so may be going there with a few mates soon.
My local Manzes in Deptford High Street closed at the end of January after more than 100 years. I'll now have to use Goddards in nearby Greenwich. But the 199 bus goes from my door to their door.

Sorry to hear it closed but excellent news on Goddards.
BUT looking at them on their website...they seem to be a bit modern and woke.
They do chicken and vegan ffs.
Its probably full of people smoking blueberry e cigarettes.
Pie and mash shops should be minced beef filling only.
Just my opinion.
Yes they do fruit pies with custard as well and have lots of tourist customers asking "what's that green stuff?" One drawback with Goddards is the mash is served using ice cream scoops whereas traditionally it should be scraped onto the plate with a spatula.

Never knew the spatula thing, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Sheesh, I've heard everything when even a pie is now described as 'woke'?!
'Why can't everything stay the same'? says the generation of psychedilia, glam rock, punk and the new romantics that now slate anything unconventional. Can you imagine the backlash Bowie or Boy George would receive today?
To be honest my one peeve with minced beef pies is bits of gristle which turns my stomach so I'm tempted to try a veggie pie. Actually when I used Cooke's pie and mash shop in the Cut at Waterloo in the 70s they used soya mince in their pies and they tasted just as nice. I now buy vegan frozen sausage rolls and Frys vegan hot dogs but purely for health reasons as I had a colonoscopy a few years ago and they found several polyps any one of which could have turned cancerous. I practically lived on hot dogs in my youth but have now learned my lesson. Avoid processed meats. I use Naked bacon and ham which contain no Nitrates or Nitrites.

My dear Starscape my point was "breaking with tradition" but I used "woke" for pure humorous value and meant no offence in doing so but personally love the idea of a pie being woke !!!!
I have always been a Bowie fan and still enjoy the first two Culture Club albums !!!

Sorry to hear that Steve and exactly the same happened to a very close friend of mine.
I have had soya mince pies and they can indeed be good.
Not a fan of the actual vegetable ones.
You mention Cookes and I noticed recently they have a home range of pie and mash with a liquor in the frozen section at my local Sainsburys.
Must try these.

I'd regularly buy a can of six jumbo hot dogs and six finger rolls. Three one day and three the next, with fried onions of course. Also bought tins of spam to make spam fritters. Four fritters to a meal. Enjoyable but now taboo. I cringe when I see those hot dog eating contests (usually in America) and the consequences they will suffer.
I was in Lewisham yesterday and poked my head into Something Fishy to check their price list. Pie, mash and liquor £8.50. Astonishing. About £3 more than other pie houses. The liquor itself was £2.
