so much atmosphere these charming posters..saw some on Antique Roadshow priceless BBC 2 6.30pm program..
Found this great website to see more..
I would love to see posters like this advertising todays products..
as I said before with drawn covers for magazines..the same could be the same for adverts and posters..

These artists out there need jobs..the photographers shouldn't have the monopoly.. :P

I particularly like the Coronation poster, because the Gresley A4s are probably my favourite locomotive class, and the painting captures speed very well.

At home I have a model railway and I have two A4s - Mallard in LNER garter blue, and Andrew K McCosh (named after an LNER director) in BR green.

Another rather famous railway travel poster is the LNER's jolly fisherman skipping along the beach! This and a few others can be seen at the National Railway Museum.

great stylized idealism, Peter; my kitchen walls are festooned with reproductions of 30s/40s contemporary ads: you'd love 'em!

the steam really adds to the magic..and the mystery..

The colouring had a real hyper realness to it..just the right amount of detail and good solid colours..

I have for a long time loved these posters, dragging us back to comics slightly, here is Viz Comics' take on the Skegness poster (it has swearing on it I should point out before you hit the link)

Does anyone know of one of these railway posters advertising either Weymouth or Portland, where I live, I would like to get a big one for my kitchen wall but have never seen any. The Portland line has long since been 'Beechinged' but the trackbed is a most pleasureable walk if anyone is ever down this way.

I go to Portland every year so know the trackless path..
My wife's sister has a holiday home at Portland so we often stay..
