Re: What is your favourite blog at the moment?
Blogs seem everywhere, today, Peter: at one time, only yourself and Lew and another few brave souls seemed brave enough to dip their toes into these tentative waters......
I probably won't do one, as I have started a 'sort of' blog on my original stuff on here...........keep up the good work, though: it's a great outlet for comic fans, but too time-consuming if you want to spend a lot of time on actual cartooning...a Blog can always come later on.

nice find..like the adverts he has also put up from inside Knockout and when new characters start..
I'm sure Kashgar put up a list of artist names for the first Knockout comic which could help him on this blog.unless he already knows?
With my blog I have an aim of at least doing 10 posts a month...

This Sid's Snake from Knockout #60 looks like it was foreshadowing the merger with Whizzer and Chips!
I guess the editor couldn't decide on an image for Knockout - it had three logos and three cover strips, in just two years. They also don't seem to know the difference between a birthday and an anniversary - issue 100 is not a birthday, that would be issues 53 and 105.
Nice find steelclaw.

It probably kept changing to stay fresh, Digi - IPC comics were never long term static like Thomson's were; they were always changing and reinventing themselves, and I found that kept them interesting. For me, The Full House is the perfect fun comic cover strip - all of them are on that great Knockout blog; they're so inspired, but would it still been great after three or four years?
That first Whizzer and Chips/Knockout join-up issue still sends an excited shiver down my spine all those years later:

Yeah,Steve Holland is the man.Our unofficial comics historian. From my own angle I've been putting up websites for as long as I can remember, usually centreing on comics titles or characters over the course of the last 10 years (Internet years)- including Adam Eterno,Starhawk,Toby,Cosmic etc.My latest foray is http://theyellowedpages.blogspot.com/
The Cap.
Remember, get it online,no one else cares and the companies who now own the copyright may actually listen. If they don't we all lose!

Re: What is your favourite blog at the moment?
Thanks Muffy. I hope people enjoy it although I'm not in it for a popularity contest. (I'm probably the least competitive person I know. ) Like all of us doing comic blogs we just want to make people aware of the history of comics and the great strips of the past.Muffy wrote:Lew Stringer's blog rules here, I think
I try to give a bit of background to the pages I show. I've had a few people ask for full scans of comics but that's not what my blog is about. I see a blog as being an online magazine, and the images are just there to illustrate the articles, not to fill gaps in people's collections. (I'm sure publishers would soon clamp down on me if I did start providing entire comics online anyway, and rightly so.)
Update: I just noticed I hadn't mentioned on this topic that, like Captain Storm, I also rate Steve Holland's blog very highly. The depth of his research is excellent. Steve really knows his stuff where adventure strips are concerned. http://bearalley.blogspot.com/

If you're a Hulk fan, then 'Ratchet's Hulk Collection' is an excellent blog - regularly updated, his reviews of ongoing Hulk series are sharp and often hilarious and the site has entries for just about every comic and collectable associated with the green man - though not the Marvel UK Hulks yet!

My favourite blog at the moment is Diversions of Groovy Kind which is massive USA based blog with some brilliant US reprints (full versions) of comics from the late 60s and 1970s (even the links are amazing).
My favourite UK blogs are Peters and Lews - excellent stuff.
