This morning, I rediscovered this absolute gem of tastelessness, which resulted from the ITV strike of 1979, which kept the entire channel off-screen for two months in the summer.

When ITV did finally reappear, this absolutely astonishing [when viewed today] , perky, cheesy tune was ushered in to reintroduce the back-on-air channel.

No doubt the jingle writers had a brief to produce a jingle to “Welcome home ITV” They certainly earned their money that day!
