Tim Traveller captured on film

Post by Lew Stringer »

Yes it's 100% true. A time traveler talking on a mobile phone in 1928:

Of course some cynics are asking "Of all the places to travel back to, why bother with a Chaplin premiere?" as though Time Travelers can only do it once.

Personally I use time travel to buy old comics. Beats all the worry of the "bit tatty with age" merchants.

I think I'm going to use it to catch up with deadlines now....

I thought Tim Traveler was someone famous at first.

Their must have been another time traveler for the women to be talking to and without any telephone masks. :P

Masks? Do you mean 'masts'?

Let's assume it's real (not that I'm saying it is). Man (or woman in this case) has finally conquered time. But is no further forward with mobile phones as they still need huge masts all over the country?

It's a bit like medieval man ridiculing a car because you'd never fit the horses under the hood.

I'd expect a bit more telephonic technology in a future that could travel to any point in the history of the universe. Maybe even to the point of phones being entirely self-contained.

Lew was referring to the name of a 90s Beano character. In other words, the thread title is just a joke. :)

It was a bit creepy if it ever does happen..
it felt real watching it..But I think she is just twirling her hair..and talking to herself..

Er yeah I did mean masts.
and I thought Tim Traveler was some sort of character but I didn't buy the Beano in the 1990s.

For information on the Beano character, click on this link:

As an aside (straying into comics territory here), the funniest Tim Traveller strip I remember in the Beano was one where he took frames from his strip and transported them into the past or the future, so the policeman became a baby and the robbers became really old (and their getaway car became a rusty old heap).

Tim Travellers Nan more like it Lew! I saw this on chortle and it made me chuckle! I'm a big Chaplin fan and I think he would be laughing at this! I think she's just some old dear who does not want to be on camera, if we do master the art of time travel I doubt we will send some old lass with a mobile ringing up HQ to find out were she parked the Delorean!

Yes, I think it's some old dear trying to hide her face with her purse or something. Or perhaps someone with toothache.

Apparently, purse-held hearing aids were the cutting-edge technology of the day...the mobile phone-phenomenon of it's age.

Anyone see the episode of the Big Bang Theory were Leonard moved in and Sheldon made him sign a clause that if he invented time travel he had to travel back to that very moment in time?

Don't the Youtube Police have anything better to do...?

As for the footage, it's probably just a hearing aid like chrissmillie refers to.

Maybe the elderly time-traveller, realising her telephonic gaffe had been caught on film, jumped forward to 2010 and prevented the clip being posted :settee:
