Suffolk County Council Chief Given £218, 592 to Resign

Post by tony ingram »

After months of bad press over her inflated salary and the sweeping cuts she instigated to public services, allegations of bribery, bullying and irregularities in expenses claims, and the somewhat unexpected apparent suicide of SCC's acting head of legal services in April (following which, she spent the next two months on 'gardening leave') Suffolk County council CEO Andrea Hill has now left the Authority with immediate effect, taking a payout of £218, 592; in other words, a full year's salary, in exchange for her resignation. An investigation into the claims of bullying, harrassment and expense fiddling made against her concluded that there was 'no evidence of wrongdoing', with SCC further stating, however, that if they had continued the investigation at the next level it would have cost at least £250, 000 in legal fees. It's estimated that Ms Hill's three years in office have cost the taxpayers of Suffolk just over £1.1, 000, 000.

Needless to say, we shall all miss her desperately...
