The Daleks have been confirmed as returning to Doctor Who this year-and this photo has just surfaced on Steven Moffat's Twitter feed. My day is officially made!

I must admit I was in despair when I saw those teletubbyesque brightly coloured friendly looking Daleks a year or so ago and hoped the creators would see sense. But I hope your post isn't an April Fool gag.

But the later - more metallic looking Daleks - looked more menacing. They had more of a military look about them.

Yeah I think those were the real best ones too. Which made thier replacement with fisher price "my first genocidal cyborg" all the worse!

Of course, being a show about time travel it is possible that the "retro Dalek" is down to the Doctor travelling to another part of Dalek history. Also there was recently a comic about some sort of Dalek prison camp, that had the old concept of them being unable to travel on non-charged floors.

Me, I'd like to see the Doctor forming a truce with some old-style Daleks to get rid of the new ones - on the principle that the friend of my enemy's enemy is my enemy's enemy's friend.

...Or something! :?

Another returnee confirmed, by The Sun. The BBC have borrowed the gold Dalek from their Wapping HQ where it's been on guard duty for several years. It was last seen on screen in Day of the Daleks in 1972.

The best Daleks were the ones drawn by Ron Turner!

Second best!

I loved the Richard Jennings version (and they even ripped off his flying saucer designs when Russell T. Davies brought them back!) :)
