Buster with fizzy drink powder
I'm try to track down an issue of Buster I once read. It was from mid-1969, and had fizzy drink powder as a free gift. Ring any bells? (They had a similar free gift in May 1966, I know.)
Re: Buster with fizzy drink powder
I can certainly remember the 'Cremola foam drink crystals' that were free in three successive issues of Buster in May 1966, but beyond that the next similar gift recorded in Steve Holland's Buster Index was a 'Two Shakes Mix' in April 1979!
Perhaps you're thinking of Cor!! which gave away a free 'Gulp' drink mixture in the first issue, dated 6th June 1970?

nb. Here's an excellent overview of Cor!! no.1 produced by the redoubtable Lew Stringer for his much-missed blog Blimey!

Maybe it was the 1966 issue after all, or it was another comic entirely. It's so long ago.

If it's any help here's an advert for the first of those 1966 issues:

Re: Buster with fizzy drink powder
Here are the 1966 issues - I'm sure I have the 1969 issue as well but haven't been able to dig it out. I got home from work, made my fish fingers, mash and peas and then set about pulling tons of comics out of cupboards but couldn't find the 1960 one. Need a lie down but I have to parcel up some paperback books I sold on ebay. Its all go.
Just noticed those issues are two weeks apart so there must have been some strawberry crystals in between?
Just thought - why not look inside the first of these and see if it mentions the crystals.

Similar colour anyway. (Pink powder.) The 21st May 1966 issue had raspberry flavour crystals. I remember it well.stevezodiac wrote: Just noticed those issues are two weeks apart so there must have been some strawberry crystals in between?

Thanks, guys. Steve, I do the same kind of thing, going through piles of comics when I should be drawing, or asleep in bed, but I'm sure your collection is larger!

Sue, I found a couple of the strips from Cor!! you were looking for, the pictures you had cut out for a school book? I will scan the complete strips on tonight. Went through 18 month run of Cor!! but only found two of them.

Wow! Thanks so much, Steve! Did you make a note of the issue dates/numbers? I'll add them to my wants list.
