I have only just became aware of these,despite volume 1 being published last year and volume 2 published this February.
These books contain every Tomorrow People strip published in Look-In.
An incredible collection that I never saw being released.
Interestingly,it also contains 4 pages of unpublished strips,in other words the two missing parts of the comic strip that were never published.
Which answers the question that Look-in collectors were never certain about;how many issues were not published due to industrial action.
It was 2.It's official.

I wasn't aware of these books being available until it was too late. I can't find or buy these anywhere even on E Bay and Amazon. I'd have bought these if I'd known of them.

Will just have to keep 'em peeled and keep searching.

The current comic anthology I'm now after, which again I didn't know existed until it was too late, is the "Fireball XL5 Comic Anthology" (which has some Look-In collections, mainly the brilliant Mike Noble). Amazon and E Bay have produced nothing (except on the former a signed copy, now sold, for £300+), and the Anderson store must have long since sold out. Ironically, the store did an article on Fireball's comic history recently long after their sell-out which no doubt for people like me have whetted more people's appetites to find these. I sent a message to the site to ask if they'd print any more, to no reply (ie highly unlikely they will).

In another message, I did ask if there were some kind of forums on this site, to no reply. I mentioned my mind has been buzzing with a new modern version of Fireball, re-formatted and re-booted. My big differences is that there's doing to be much less to none of its sexism which stuck out a mile in the original (Venus is no damsel in distress and expert at self defence), including more female characters (including an alien girl on its crew), some turned different ethnic groups (ie Prof Matic now an Afro Caribbean) and none of that irritating and pointless Zooney character at all! If I see an old TV show with flaws I think out how I'd do it differently (perhaps my Autism speaking?).

Your ideas for Fireball re-vamp are great!!
I will ask and see if I can locate the Fireball collection for you but only know 3 serious collectors so cannot promise as my network is limited.
A lot of these books have a very small release despite the huge amount of us that want them.
Personally,I'm going to get the 2 UFO volumes when I next get paid,if they are still available at that point.

I saw a glimmer of hope when I saw the book displayed on the Waterstones website only to find it "currently not in stock", should be laws against shops displayed not in stock items on their site - just gets people's hopes up to end in crushing disappointment.

Am glad you like my ideas for a revamped "Fireball".
Other ideas I had for this include Lt 90 now being a human female who has Autism, but a valued communications expert (and in the future people with ASD have concessions and are accepted and understood in society by law);
a new recurring character who is an "alien bounty hunter agent" who a few years before - in a nod to the 60s Tv series "The Invaders" - prevented a takeover of earth by an alien race who made themselves look like humans. The said invaders left earth but there's still a concern that they may return/team up with another planet of villains or have still some their people on earth. The said hunter/agent (based on actor Patrick McGoohan) often teams up with the XL5 crew to prevent any slight possibility of this happening again, thus opening up the possibility of earth based espionage episodes.
The alien girl who joins the XL5 crew looks human, and is a bit goth looking, and is treated warily by some at first. Her planet was destroyed and she has lived a nomadic existence, travelling planet to planet, building up a good lived experience of these planets and locations. She was a fugitive on her last planet before she joined the crew. Oh and she has some mild powers: X Ray eyes that can see through anything manufactured, but not through natural things (bodies. rock formations etc). She can think on her feet quicker than any human and run faster than anything living on earth.

Great ideas but ultimately I do wonder if these would be better in a new work rather than Fireball?
Ultimately with both of your posts here on a revamp of Fireball,in reality you have created a new universe,a new story.
So why give Gerry Anderson the credit?
Did you enjoy the re-vamps made of Captain Scarlett and Thunderbirds or the Space 1999 revamp on audio?
Personally I didn't.
My advice to you is take pen to paper,use your ideas and write a short story,email it to a scfi mag or a publisher that specialises in scfi collections of stories and is open to new authors.
PERSONALLY I PARTICULARLY LIKE...Your idea of an Autistic communications officer.That's clever and new.
I think that is a very interesting idea and works as Autism is often about communicating in a different way and therefore makes perfect sense when dealing with aliens who obviously would communicate in a very different way than any country of our world.
It's actually GENIUS and my personal advice would to be to dial everything back and concentrate on this one character as a starting point and main hub of your story.

I do a fair bit of writing, largely on my experiences of Autism, and have read some out when I'm not contributing my experiences at meetings or when giving Oliver McGowan training. Many people are saying I need to write my memoirs as they would make a good handbook and make sure no one else experienced what I did. So that's priority at moment.

I've also, even years before my diagnosis, have been creating some ideas for tele fantasy, taking much influence from both the ITC shows and from British comics too. May think of a sci-fi idea and expand the one I've given when I can. Have thought of these as Tv series ideas, but writing them for a comic strip could be an idea (when I find an artist, I can't draw well).

As for the Gerry Anderson revivals on audio and computer animated:

I'm not that into audio adventures, so I can't really comment.
Have mixed feelings on the Captain Scarlet and Thunderbirds revivals: It's good that there are more female characters and existing ones are given more to do. however, they're got none of the visual magic and quality storytelling of the originals (even if they were made when mysogyny ruled TV more). One of the Thunderbirds Are Go characters have any charm at all. Too much TV today focuses on background stories like these did , where in the 1960s any TV character's background story was kept very subtle and the story and characters just spoke for themselves, which is better.

I've re-thought my updated Fireball revival by simply maintaining the main characters, but without the sexism (Venus is re-invented, holds her own and kicks ass), and with at least 2 more support characters in support - one a part-human girl who joins the crew with a few subtle advantages over humans (perhaps can hold an hour's oxygen in her body, is super-fit with a computer hard-drive like memory), the other perhaps is there to assist Zero and Lt Ninety on the ground and gives scientific advice. Perhaps one existing character will be made Afro-Caribbean for inclusivity purposes.
Oh and there's no place for that annoying Zooney, who does to lead a bunch of his own people, but perhaps the new crew girl has an alien parrot like small bird (a little refence to Space Patrol's Gabbler?). The idea for an alien girl for the XL5 crew is taking refence a bit from the non-humans who formed parts of the teams in Stingray (Marina) and Space 1999 (Maya in second series).

Plus sometimes the crew do intelligence/espionage work for an unseen intelligence officer and department.

Almost forgot: had no luck locating the Fireball XL5 Comic Anthology so far.

I have mentioned earlier I did recently get first 2 volumes of TV21 reprints books from 2009, so a nice stop-gap find for the meantime.

yeah, that Fireball XL5 anthology is hard to get hold of, grrr

I ended up getting my copy from the artist Lee Sullivan (who was involved in its production) at a comic-con. Really wasn't expecting to find it there and was very pleased to get it. It's a great book.

A very rare book and its on Amazon but I'm not paying £399 for it !!

Didn't Lee Sullivan do some of the art for it,I read something about linking the stories with the Anderson universe?
