I don't know how many were issued but I have six. They are shown in chronological order and their respective publication dates are 1980, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988. I presume it was published from 1981-1983? Here are the front and back covers:

Re: Oor Wullie Summer Fun Specials
They were still going in 1993, with plenty of brand new artwork by Ken Harrison.

Link to the covers of the 1981, 1983, 1990 and 1991 editions. Hover over the thumbnails to see a larger image. Presumably 1982 exists as well, but at least I've partially answered your question (well, really, Al has!)

Re: Oor Wullie Summer Fun Specials
In fact there was no 1982 Oor Wullie Special as a Broons Special (the only one) was issued instead. As Andy mentions it I think from memory that the 1993 edition may have been the last but I'll check on that.
BTW has anyone bought a copy of the latest Sunday Post 'special' 'Broon's Days Oot'? Its basically a book highlighting places of interest to visit in Scotland and in format is similar to the Maw Broon cookbooks ( a freebie 'glove-box map' was given away with the Scottish version of the Sunday Mail to help advertise it). Amongst its facts for tourists it also reprints 13 Broons strips from the Sunday Post each with a holiday theme (12 by DDW and 1 by Peter Davidson).

I agree, 1993 is the last one I can remember but I didn't want to put my head on the block amongst the gurus

Re: Oor Wullie Summer Fun Specials
Its good that the ones in the comics uk gallery are ones I don't have, they can include mine if they wish to bolster it out a bit. I scanned the back covers as well as they are a continuation of the front. Just for added info the specials are a mixture of new two page Oor Wullie strips and puzzles, all in black and white.
Re: Oor Wullie Summer Fun Specials
I've had a check and there was an Oor Wullie Summer Special published in 1994 but unlike the previous ones which were 36pg stand-alone jobs the 1994 edition only ran to 20pgs and was available only as part of that years Sunday Post Special pack.
