Poot comic is back...

Post by PaulTwist »

Here's a weird one: mostly forgotten adult comic Poot has returned to newsagents' shelves. I chanced upon a copy yesterday - to be honest it's really not very good.

More info here: http://www.pootcomic.com/

Seems like an odd thing to bring back, but there you go. Can't see it lasting too long. They are also selling a range of Poot merchandise, which seems somewhat optimistic.

Bad start, they can't even spell.
You may also be able to pick it up if you're outisde the UK.

Apparently it originally ran from 1843 to 1991. Never heard of it, but that's probably because it was before my time.

EDIT: Blimey, that's my 1200th post!

The 1843 thing's a joke; I think it started in the late 80s?

Wikipedia doesn't do jokes, it's an encyclopedia. Provide a source and I'll have that taken out.

Wikipedia can be altered by anyone, its not going to be factual and should not be used for reference if your doing essays or articles, its okay for general reference if your careful!

The 1843 confusion comes from this months article which is (presumably) a joke about the history of the magazine. Anyone else on here seen it? What do you think? I would welcome any new comic to the british comic scene, Ive got it and I'm surprised at the lack of adverts in it makes me wonder how it works? how did they get funded?

No. Doesn't seem to be distributed around here, but the original comic wasn't well circulated either.

From the website
It's available from newsagents throughout the UK including Borders, Eason, Spar and Martin McColl.
I'm not on commission no! Apparently they will be in high st WHsmiths aswell. The funniest thing they did is on the website, its the business studies kids which was miles better than anything in the actual comic. They didn't think it was funny enough though

Thanks, I've taken it out.

Thanks. I'll try my local Smiths this week. We don't have any of those other retailers here.

I think I read that it's only in WH Smith from issue 2.

While it's nice to see a relaunched comic from the past back on the shelves, it seems like an odd move. While its heart seems to be in the right place - and it's more "silly" than "smutty", even though there's a bit of filth- it's just not very funny. Shame.

Bought a copy this morning from my local Martin McColl, they obviously didn't look at the cover has the words A*r* An*s and satire for grown ups is on it.
it was next to the Beano amongst all the tots comics.
It's ok it's a bit like buying a poor Viz copy.

It was stocked alongside The Beano? Someone needs to tell that shop's staff that comics aren't just for kids.

I saw it in a shop in Coventry yesterday, displayed with the bodybuilding and tattoo mags!?! (Is this a new trend? Crikey was shelved with such mags in Borders.) Not a big fan of it but it's good to see another comic on the shelves.

Just recently got all seven issues of the relaunched Poot! through their website, and enjoyed them very much. Very silly, cute almost. Nothing like Viz in the slightest (not that I've got anything against Viz - I love Viz!)... People who like the new Dandy comics would find a lot of enjoyment from this - it's similar, just with a bit more swearing.

Sadly, their publisher has gone bankrupt, so it looks like we won't be seeing issue 8 anytime soon.

If they're out of business, shouldn't the website be dead? It's not only still up, but it's been updated this year - the bottom of the front page says ©Poot! Comic 2012.
