Comics beside the seaside

Post by Lew Stringer »

It's the International Comic Expo in Brighton next Saturday, 10th June, at the Hilton Metropole on the seafront. The focus is 100% on comics guests. A proper comics con. Guests include Pat Mills, Dave Gibbons, and many more. See you there?

Yep! I've got my ticket and looking forward to meeting you for the first time Lew. Looks to be a packed show with interviews and many tables. Nice to see that the Cartoon Museum will be there too.

Whats the difference between a guest and a respected industry professional?

Do you get a bigger table?

I'm paying my own hotel expenses for the Brighton one so I'm not technically a "guest" but I'll still have a table and guest pass etc.

Good meeting you too Lew. I was struck by how accessible and welcoming everyone was. This was a good day to meet comic heroes with queues for Pat Mills and Dave Gibbons only being three deep. The range of comics was diverse with a lot I didn't know and I've picked up about half a dozen different creators work to read. Oh and I must mention the energy of the Etherington brothers who were at full throttle at their table all day and drew the attention of a lot of the younger attendees.

It was a very good event indeed. Entirely comics-focused and a nice atmosphere. Shane Chebsey always puts on a good comics expo for fans and pros alike. A really good line up and a nice crowd.
