[img:2338:952]http://uk.geocities.com/pjgdavidsutherl ... london.jpg[/img] how I found out about the great flood of London...it was mentioned in the Beano and Dandy book........I've put these images on my David Sutherland website..

thanks Kashgar for the very detailed answer...

The Beano in 1961 had some superly drawn strips...fancy getting some more on ebay in the future...
Johnny Leopard was dramatic.Johnny who was from Kenya was trying to get the leopard back to Kenya as well has it turned savage in captivity and was to be destroyed...the strip I have 998 the leopard has attacked the boy after the boy had brought it round after a fall......so quite a brave strip for its time..it ends with the article boy in hospital life in danger...

Theres to be a flim about the flood of London...called Flood.a British made film..with the guy who play Poirot David S as prime minister.all the landmarks under water.......e.g London eye......Dome...

I wonder if they had read The Beano in 1961 for ideas....
keep hoping that classics will show this story....

Thought in celebration of Classics showing this super strip I'd bring this topic back to the top.....

enjoy Raven and other new people who have joined recently..
The Beano can come up with some amazing concepts and ideas.....it wasn't all naughty kids!

Me thinks the Bash Street kids (David Sutherland) are doing a tribute to the Great flood of London...I think David must have enjoyed seeing it again in Classics...
In the flood story London zoo is flooded making the animals escape..like the Bash Street story....

e.g No969-974 The alligator from London Zoo.

cheers to David's long career 8)

gutted this great adventure story is cut short in Classics.....
