The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
Did it ever get released? If so, it's unavailable on Amazon now - which is strange 'cos the Dandy one that came out much earlier IS still available.
Hope I haven't missed it!
Cheers.

Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
As far as I'm aware the only Beano 1940 facsimile published was the limited edition one released a few years ago. Well. near facsimile I should say as it didn't contain the Whoopee Hank dedication page for some reason.
Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
A Beano Book 1941 yes the second one was published in very low numbers not sure if it was by portfolio editions or officially licensed like the first as it doesn't have the slipcase or certificate the last one I saw was £400 on brought to book dot com bit pricey for a copy don't you think?

Much earlier? Wasn't it actually a few years later? The Beano one wasn't redone alongside the Dandy one.finisterre wrote:Did it ever get released? If so, it's unavailable on Amazon now - which is strange 'cos the Dandy one that came out much earlier IS still available.

I was right then, Dandy was later. Thanks.
Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
There are some bootlegs of both Dandy and Beano books most are soft covered photocopied crap but there is a Dandy monster comic for 1941 in hardcover produced in the late 70s and it is a carbon copy of the real deal
Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
There is a copy of the facsimile 1940 Beano Book on sale on eBay at the moment (not sold by me):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371045413423? ... EBIDX%3AIT
Mint copies typically sell for between £50 and £100, and should come with a certificate indicating the number of the copy out of 2000.

Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
I've seen this facsimile for far higher prices than the feebay one don't know why it's a copy but it's a step up from original knackered ones that sell for £2-3k I suppose

I've got my certificate and case...nice o know its gone up in value
Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
The person who donated this to the British Heart Foundation almost certainly didn't expect it to be worth more than the price they paid for it. It's currently at £61 with only one and a half hours left to go.
Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
It went for £70.61 plus p&p.
Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
Somebody got a bargain
Re: The Beano Book 1940 Facsimile
Crikey! My 1940 is numbered 0991/2000 and I thought I bought it not on mail order, but at Waterstones (which might have been called Ottakars still at the time) in Salisbury in 2006 for £1.99 in the January sales. Did anyone else get theirs in a shop, I think there was 2 copies in there when I got mine. Think I'd better look after it then. It's not often that anything I have bought has ever increased in value. It's not about the money though!
Thinking about it, it may have been the Dandy Monster Comic after all in Salisbury. If so, I can't think for the life of me where the Beano came from. I don't remember sending off for it. Curse my long term memory...

These weren't for shop retail that's why there is no barcode or ISBN number on the slipcase
