A new look Ball Boy has been revealed.

All righty. We asked if you wanted a peek at the new-look Ball Boy and you said you did – so here we go.

This isn’t the final version – it’s not exactly as you’ll be seeing him in the comic – but this is the very first drawing we got of Ball Boy in the new style we asked for.
Where the heck are the stripes on his shirt? And of course we're all going to want to know who the artist is.

Well, the artist was revealed in response to "Moonerz" (Jordan Mooney) as...Dave Eastbury! That was unexpected.

 That means it's the same stunt they pulled with Desperate Dan in 2004, when Ken Harrison continued to draw him but in a completely different style. This new Ball Boy looks like across between Dave's old style and the John Dallas version.

Nice new look. Quite European, which could prove useful if the strips are ever sold abroad.

TBH I like the new look, but that looks a lot more like Barrie Appleby to me.

Unlike the new Dennis, I quite like the new look Ball Boy. You're right, it's a sort of cross between John Dallas's style and Eastbury's older style. Plus, it's not reprints! :)

I see what you mean, maybe Barrie will be ghosting it sometimes like Tom Paterson does with Hunt Emerson's Fred's Bed strip.

I find this hard to believe that this is the work of Dave Eastbury, its fantastic looks european (as lew pointed out) if it is Dave Eastbury why the hell does he use the style he is famous for? Anyone think it may be Mike Pearse instead?

The Beanotown website itself confirmed it was Dave Eastbury. It may not look like his usual style, but it's definitely him.

Because someone whos called 'Beano Staff' commented? I could say I'm called 'Beano Editor' on the beano website but Im not. Forgive me for being cynical but I would like to see more work before I believe its Dave Eastbury. If It is Dave Eastbury then hes acheived something fantastic.

Having said that why someone would make such a trivial claim is beyond me. We will see

Dave Eastbury signs his work, so we should find out quite quickly who it is drawing it. I think it's clearly Dave's work, though I can see why some people think it looks like Mike Pearse or Barrie Appleby.

'Beano Staff' was indeed a member of the Beano staff and the artist is definitely Dave Eastbury. I write the scripts for Ball Boy and I'm really pleased with the way the page is going. It's still an evolving wortk in progress but we're pleased with it in the office. Hopefully, the readers will be too.

Maybe the website could put Beano staff members names in a different colour so that accusations like this don't happen again. There definitely needs to be some way of distinguishing Beano staff from ordinary readers. You should suggest this to the Beanotown webmaster.

Thanks for confirming that the new BB was indeed by Dave Eastbury.

Surely the name "Beano Staff" was a dead giveaway?

Presumably members' aliases have to be approved before they can comment, (in case anyone uses an inappropriate name) so anyone calling themselves "Beano Staff" who wasn't Beano staff wouldn't get through would they?
