I don't see why it's done so badly, surely people would want a classic comic with lots of comic strips but it seems kids want things like Toxic and Dandy Xtreme instead, it's very sad.

Also it's interesting that you're saying it wasn't publicised very well, didn't you watch the news or listen to the radio? There was quite a bit of talking about it.

Also up until the fourth issue, Tesco in Chichester had it's own special Dandy stall which was just full of Dandy's (four shelves full!), above was a brilliant advert displaying the Dandy logo (which was massive) and coming out of it were Harry Hill, Desperate Dan, Bananaman and Korky as well as lots of Blue Blobs (I think George VS Dragon, Robot on the Run and a 'Simples meerkat' were there as well but I can't remember.

My only problem with the radio and TV broadcasts was that it was saying it had lots of new characters in it then went on to name them, whereas I was expecting Harry Hill, George VS Dragon, Kid Cops, Pre-Skool PM to be named, instead they said Jeremy Clarkson, Simon Cowell and Noel Edmonds! *facepalm*
Toxic is rubbish. Dandy Xtreme was OK, but nobody wanted it. Anyway, Jeremy Clarkson isnt even a character in the dandy!

Do you think they should bring some strips back?

Yes, that's it, comicsgalore; 'Pre Skool Prime Minister. ' This strip does absolutely nothing for me, either in concept or execution. But I accept others like this stuff. It would never have lasted a year if it never had some sort of following.

You dont find it funny? I just wish they'd move it off the drab, left page next to competition slot and move it back to the centre spread!

It just looks confusing and chaotic. It doesn't look attractive to me. It doesn't draw me in, it looks too much of a slog to get through: I like to scan through a strip easily and quickly but the composition to this strip comes accross to me like an assault course. It's probably an acquired taste [I don't mind Jamie's Dandy cover one-image cartoons, so it's not really his style, which is striking: it's the way this strip is laid out, it does not look clear to read.]

Maybe the artwork in this strip requires more effort from the reader, but I just prefer imagery that 'reads' clearly and with immediate impact.

But you young guns all seem to like it, and I'm definitely in a minority.

Hmm, I see what you mean, I find it simple to read and honestly find Harry Hill stories a lot harder to read (they're so long!!).
To be honest, Jamie's style isn't exactly "popular" with adults, maybe you jut find it to busy.

I dont like Jamie Smart's artwork much, but one thing you cant take away from him is the humour. Especially Pre-skool Prime Minister. Of all the strips you dont like, why that one? One thing i hate about the harry hill strip is all the celebrities are drawn with wrinkles, they look horrible!

And there's never any story to it, it's all jokes and wonders! It's a bit like Cheeky! (i've got the annuals) and that's no good thing!

Maybe I just need to tune into the humour on Pre-Skool Prime Minister: yes, the same thing about composition can be said for Harry Hill, which often has a lot of detail for a modern strip.

It's still possible to do a detailed strip that is easy to read if the composition is good, though.

I do know that a lot of more casual readers will turn the page if they think the artwork looks confusing or overdone, though.........

I read every page fully every week. (apart from the jokes, puzzle, and competition.)

Regrettably, that wouldn't surprise me - and is a possible reason for the Beano getting a page count increase this week. If the Dandy ends up merging with it, the Dandy strips (probably only Desperate Dan and Bananaman) would simply replace The Germs and Number 13, the two newly added reprints.

Of course, I'd rather both comics continued independently.
The Germs and Number 13 wouldnt be dropped straight away surely? Anyway, what about the other dandy strips?
The reprints would be the first to go. And I mentioned Dan and Bananaman as they're the two longest running Dandy strips. If anything will survive if Dandy folds, it's those two.

Because there's other class comic strips in The Dandy, it'd be unfair if they missed out.

Dandy is £2.50 again next week & they wonder why sales are down. They need to stick to £1.50 every week or even £1,not put the price up every few weeks.
