Did that story ever appear in dandy before after beezer & topper ended,if not its good to see thomson dipping into their classic characters archive as a lot of the new stories lately have not been very good.Which is why i said in an earlier post somewhere leave Beano & Dandy for classic characters & then produce a new 3rd weekly title full of new stories,Phoenix shows it can be done even if you cant really buy it anywhere

It had short run in The Dandy and was then reprinted in The Dandy Xtreme. :)

EDIT: Here's a blog post I made about classic characters that have returned since October 2010: http://wizzkid97.wordpress.com/2012/05/ ... the-dandy/

I knew about the Xtreme era reprints. When was the earlier run?

That's the reason. Shops won't take new comic titles that aren't based on well known properties, for fear that they won't sell.

I've never read any of the original Banana Bunch, but am I right in thinking that hugely detailed splash panels like the one this week used to be something of a tradition?

I thought the strip started off a bit shakily, but it's definitely getting into its stride now. All the restaurant-based gags this week made me realise how much I missed the writing in Harry Hill...

Anybody know why Nigel is signing himself as 'N.N.'? :?

- Phil R.

(...Aha! I've just noticed that the Bunch pages are coloured - rather well it has to be said - by somebody called 'Nika', so I'm guessing that 'N.N.' is Nige & Nika?)

Sometimes you can see a second signature on his work. This week's Minnie the Minx for example, is signed Nigel Parkinson on the right page, and what looks like HH on the left one. I think that's what you're seeing, as Nigel's name is usually in the title panel on Banana Bunch. I think it is a oddly drawn NN and probably does refer to Nika.

No, it actually is an "H.H." - she's Russian: http://nigelparkinsoncartoons.blogspot. ... art-1.html

Gosh! I didn't know that 'H' is a Russian 'N' - whoever said comics weren't educational? :)

Thanks Swirlythingy!
