I think there's 17 issues after #1, I know #2 #3 and #4 aren't there. So its probably #5 to the end of the run, I'll check tonight. If you want them drop me an email - preferably direct - my emails seem to get stuck for ages in the outbox on here.Adam Eterno wrote:That's a great haul. You won't be short of things to read over Christmas! I need a few of the Thunders.......well actually all 21 issues after #1!koollectablz wrote:Picked up the first year of Scorcher, a full set of Misty, first 30 issues of Tammy, first 50 issues of Battle, nearly the full run of Thunder (I actually only wanted #2 and which one was missing....? you guessed it- so if anyone is after any particular issues let me know), and something I’ve been after for years - the first Victor Summer Special.
Also I’ve been having fun picking up the various comics that go with the free gifts I bought a couple weeks ago.

Picked up Challengers of the Unknown Showcase vol. 2 for £7 from charity shop in Welling. I've always had a soft spot for those second string DC titles like Sea Devils, Doom Patrol, Martian Manhunter etc.

A complete year (1990) of The Dandy.
I won't get them in time for Christmas but definitely early in the New Year.

What a great haul! I thought you weren't going to spend as much on comics any more??stevezodiac wrote:Went to Deptford flea market and got the following:

The Heroic Adventure Library is #2 of the very short 6 comic run.
I'm most jealous of the Giant War #1 as I've been looking for that for ages. Colcool has it and I keep offering him money or swaps for it but he's not having any of it as he collects them.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I was about to leave the market when I spotted the comics. I'd already found a pile of 80s Victors but too recent for me. I was most pleased with the Space Trip to the Moon comic which I never knew existed. Duncan McAlpine values a mint copy at £70. I know some forum members frown on buying for financial gain but I'm a pensioner now and need to supplement my income.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
The heroic adventure library is signed by the artist on almost every page which suggests it may originally have been published as individual pages probably in an overseas comic. Can anyone confirm? Signature might be Comos?

Re: What comics did you buy today?
I bought my copy from Phil's Comics a year ago in VG condition for £11. I've never found Duncan's prices to accurately reflect the active market. There's been one on Ebay for a while at £25 which hasn't sold. If yours is mint, that's a different matter. Great comic though!stevezodiac wrote:I was about to leave the market when I spotted the comics. I'd already found a pile of 80s Victors but too recent for me. Re: What comics did you buy today?
A few days ago armed with £20 christmas gift shopping vouchers plus birthday money I went into Waterstones,Smiths, the Works and was disappointed with the comic material that was on offer and started to think maybe I should buy other things instead.
Today the Works sale was well underway and I decided I would spend a £10 voucher if I found anything I liked.
The first comic book I found of which I could only see one copy was ----
LEGENDS OF THE TOUR by Jan Cleijne The graphic story of the Tour de France and riders---£3
also got--
THE MYSTERY KNIGHT by George R.R. Martin a graphic novel-------------------------------£4
STAR TREK countdown to darkness A graphic novel----------------------------------------50p
The Enchanting Christmas colouring book , bought this purely for the nostalgic pics by Margaret Tarrant childrens book illustrator 1888-1959-------------------------------------------£1.50p
To complete the £10 finished with The Bumper book of slightly forgotten British Olympians ---£1

Nothing wrong with that, Steve. I've bought items from you in the past so I'm glad you sold them. (Had no idea you were a pensioner now. I still have a few years to go before I get my bus pass.stevezodiac wrote: I know some forum members frown on buying for financial gain but I'm a pensioner now and need to supplement my income.

Re: What comics did you buy today?
Picked up Valiant Picture Library 27 Action Stations and Combat Picture Library 195 Dropping Zone - Danger!. The latter has an advert in the back for a 68 page magazine called Warrior priced at 1/6. I've never heard of this and the Grand Comics Database has no entry. Can anyone show a cover image? It mentions War, Crime, Western and Sport with the War being advertised as a full length war picture story every month. Apologies for poor image taken with 2mp tablet camera. Curiously the masthead is very similar to Dez Skinn's version decades later. I would presume this was a short lived publication if it ever did reach the newsstands.
