I made a valiant effort on the #1s as a treat to myself but someone obviously wanted them more than I did. The buyer also bought the #2 issue for over £300, so over £1k spent......good man!

I sold several original horror/sci fi EC comics a couple of years ago but they didn't make three figures. I still have a few EC war comics but they are nowhere near as popular.

I was surprised at the prices they went for but maybe it's as koollectablz has previously noted and this buyer obviously really wanted them and the prices achieved will flush out more sellers who may not achieve the same level of bid. We shall see! The seller has 4 more silmilar comics on sale this week.

I went after these as well, mainly as I've never seen them is as good condition.

Yeah they're British versions but extremely hard to find in condition like that.

I didn't get them either - hopefully more will come onto the market - genuinely great comics to collect.

Gosh! I thought £40 was a bit steep when I bought Haunt of Fear #1 myself a couple of years ago.

I hadn't realised they were UK editions. Probably rarer than the american versions. I have the Black Magic Album advertised on the back as well as the Ghostly Weird and Startling Terror Tales. All one-offs. I paid £10 each for them at the ephemera fair last year. Next fair is this Sunday.

The Startling Terror is fairly common, I've had a few copies.

All well worth picking up if you find them 'in the wild' at a decent price.

Well I can add the Greyfriars Herald to this thread too...

I had to send them back as practically all of them had large chunks cut out.

I guess the sellers idea of complete and mine varied somewhat.

They would be the ones, yes. To anyone considering them, a few have over half the back page cut out too, caveat emptor.

Missed out on the Tarzan Grand Adventure Album which collects the first six issues of vol one.

Poor condition but now regretting being a bit penny pinching about it...

I still do that sometimes so I try to bid as much as I think I won't feel badly if I lose. Not an exact science though.....
