Not that I buy the paper of course

A new TV series is returning but with a new PC Dennis.
Will it be any good?

Can't children stretch thier imagination to a cartoon being set in the 50's? Or even the old animated series which was pretty timeless and could have taken place anywhere from 1965 to 2005

Being a Mr Men fan...

they've americanised them......getting rid of trilby hats and brown shoes..
changing shapes...no big nose for Mr Nosey...still hope it will be fun..But why change a classic soooo much? Mr Strong a triangle with muscle arms and a strong mans belt why does everything have to be spelled out to children.Mr Strong is strong...don't question it and adjust to make it fit....Mr Strong is Samm Sunn....I bet the new Mr Strong doesn't eat tons of eggs!!....me thinks political correctness has crept in....also the American who has a blog didn't know them before...so has no love as a child of them...if he did he wouldn't change them..

From other reports, I don't think it's awfully different from the 1997 series - more new episodes than anything else, because the 1997 series was already PC for the time.

It's late, and I've had a wee glass of wine, so I think it's best I maintain a fairly diplomatic silence.

But, Lew - I do so admire your restraint, mate.

I imported the Dennis boxset (as it was never sold outside the UK to my knowledge) & I was... disheartened I suppose you could say. I enjoyed it & as a stand alone program it was fun to watch, but it wasn't "Dennis the Menace", not as we know him in the Beano. If anything I felt that it was a mix of the UK Dennis & the US Dennis.

The show did turn my girlfriend into a life long Gnasher fan though :)

Er, America had trilby hats and brown shoes too, Peter. They updated them. Not much, mind![/i]
