UPDATE:
As I said at the start (May 24), anyone that has watched the news today will know that Gatwa did indeed leave the show yesterday.
His NDA will stop him from telling the truth.
I know that he has stated several times that he was going to do series 3.
They were all back in Cardiff a couple of months back re-shooting on the finale episode .
I think original end was Gatwa leaving Earth after being betrayed by Unit and Mel dying.
However, due to ratings fail he was asked to leave.
And it had NOTHING TO DO WITH EUROVISION !!!
Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who
Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who
And his real reason for not doing Eurovision was that he wasn't happy getting the sack.
Therefore.....My entire premise for this series of posts is misguided, well wrong basically.
But I don't think I was a million miles away from the truth.
Certainly Gatwa wasn't happy about Israel being in Eurovision.
ANYHOW:I said he was leaving, he has left.
I thought Jodie was fantastic and actually looked like the Doctor when written properly.
Billie Piper is not the new Dr, she is going to portray some sort of force.
Disney are going to cancel the deal but Dr Who will continue.
May be a couple of years or more though.

Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who
Hi, Jim. As you can see from the last episode, Ncuti Gatwa left Doctor Who rather than got sacked due to his political views. In fact his latest reason is that he said he was too old for the part.
Reading comics since 1970. My Current Regulars are: 2000 AD (1977-), Judge Dredd Megazine (1990-), Spaceship Away (2003-), Commando (2013-), Deadpool and Wolverine (2023-), Quantum (2023-), Fantastic Four (2025-).

Yes, he has said a lot of strange things.SID wrote: 24 Jul 2025, 20:57 Hi, Jim. As you can see from the last episode, Ncuti Gatwa left Doctor Who rather than got sacked due to his political views. In fact his latest reason is that he said he was too old for the part.![]()
Perhaps the real reason he left was that he knew the series was not getting good ratings and the Disney deal was going to die.
BTW Sid, the last episode was edited with new filming when he resigned, he had initially agreed on 3 series.
Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who
There will potentially be a Xmas special this year but ultimately the woke left wing politics (and I say this as a left wing moderate) has spelled disaster for ratings and frankly had it been extreme right wing politics I suggest the result would be the same.
The same type of pressure groups that made the revival of "Quantum Leap" fail.
Why does no one EVER LEARN FROM SUCCESS ?????
When Battlestar Galactica was rebooted Starbuck was a female and the actress and the writing was so good no one had an issue with it.

Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who
We have had 2 gay Dr Whos' in a row.
And Jodie ending up gay was just so insulting to any female of any age that had ever watched the show and then the black community finally get a Dr and he is gay as well.
If I had been black or female as a child and had an interest in this show I think I may have been a little bit unsure of this sudden inclusion as it meant I would have to be gay as well.
It's not inclusion, it's exclusion.
Of course it can be argued that the first black Dr was actually Martin but as no reality ever backs her existence and she only appears briefly in a couple of episodes other than her initial one, it remains debatable.
For the record I thought Jo Martin was an incredible Dr and if she had simply taken over after Capaldi, I don't think the TV show would have gotten itself into the crisis that it clearly is in now.

Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who
To be absolutely clear, I simply don't feel that the central character of DR Who should ever be about sexuality, I wasn't happy with the 10th Dr and Rose scenario but it was kept vague enough for them just to have been very good friends.
And in reality, the only time that The Dr was ever seen as remotely sexual was the kiss in the Paul M movie.

Just my views and feel free to disagree !!!
Re: Ncuti Gatwa Axed From Dr Who
One final thing that I must say.
I have gay friends, male and female.
I'm not some sort of Christian evangelist fascist on a crusade.
These views are simply those of a fan of the series since I first watched it in 1973.
I don't like it when the central character becomes a scapegoat to certain political motivations.
And I deeply apologise if I have upset anyone with my views.
