Its great to see DC thompson having a go at something different as opposed to just putting out the Beano and Dandy archive material.

I for one will be adding it to my christmas list, lets hope it sells well enough to encourage DCT to do other reprints of past adventure weeklys.

Colcool can you tell me please what strips are in this 1966 Hospur annual?

Hope it is not to much trouble for you to dig it out.

Currently a bit difficult for me to dig out as it is about 2,500 miles away! One story that I remember vividly from the annual is a character that visits a city destroyed by atomic war and has trouble with the 'local residents'. One being a giant ape! The artwork if I remember correctly is by the same chap that drew 'The Last 600' in the Victor and he also drew more than his fair share of Wonder Mann stories. Of the rest, I can't recall a blessed thing. Sorry Ian

I'd happily pay to see some of the great IPC, Odhams and Fleetway annuals of the 60s and 70s again. Well, missing out the pages that were badly resized reprint (an IPC thing that used to make their annuals a good thick read though). Wham 1969 anybody? Smash 1969? Full colour Geoff Campion painted strips in Lion? Eric Eden painted Dan Dare strips in Eagle? Ian Kennedy's painted Adam Eterno strip in Valiant? Mine were pretty well thumbed by hogmanay and are now falling to bits.

They always knocked spots off the DCT annuals for me as a kid, the DCT adventure strips looking like they'd been drawn 50 years earlier. Though to their credit the DCT books had more colour and were all new (as if kids know a reprint when they see it, as the current publishers of the weekly Beano have remembered recently).

Ooh, talking of changing the subject, when I was doing one of my Masterclasses this weekend, a 9 year old kid told me off because The Beano was using reprints. Apparently even his collection stretches back far enough to include the first appearances of some of the reprint stuff. Mind you, he was a bit of an uber-comic-swot, he was the 4th kid I've met (since the start of the summer) who gets the DFC.
