There's also the Fantasy Football Team book which seems to dwell on IPC Sporting Stars.
I started to say something sensible but my parents took over my brain!

There's a superb Bumper Book of Roy of the Rovers coming out soon which reprints various old "Roy" strips/features from annuals and accurately reproduces the look and feel of an old Fleetway annual. That's from Titan, who will also be launching a Best of Battle book soon and have just launched a new Nemi collection. A Best of 2000AD book is also out.

Rebellion continue to publish their chunky 2000AD reprints. The latest being ACE Trucking Company, and The Complete Ro-Busters.

There was also "Love on ward B", taken from the "Hospital Nurse Picture Library" (bet that one didn't last long). It, and a previous romance library reprint, are both smaller than the Commando etc books

Not books, I know, but there's also the excellent ART OF COMMANDO and STARBLAZER calendars from www.uniquecomiccollectables.com

The Starblazer one only feature two artists Colin Macneil and the legendary Ian Kennedy but the work featured is quite something!

I finally had the chance to overhaul my list of upcoming books with "British comics" connections:

http://www.downthetubes.net/resources/c ... omics.html

On sale this week and next are the following:

• Jane (The Misadventures of a Bright Young Thing)
by Don Freeman Publisher: Titan Books On Sale from 24 October 2008
These are the cartoon strip (mis)adventures of Britain s first and best loved World War II Pin-up - the scintillating, blue eyed, blond-haired, clothes-phobic cartoon legend that is Lady Jane Gay. The ever patriotic Jane wasted no time in joining up, following Britain s entry into the war, and following a brief stint as a chauffeur, secretary and with the W.A.A.F.S. Jane finally joined Army Intelligence in 1941 where she stayed off and on for the remainder of the war battling 5th columnists and Nazi spies.
• Watching the Watchmen
by Dave Gibbons, Chip Kidd & Mike Essl Titan Books
On Sale from 24 October 2008
• Fred Basset 2008
by Alex Graham Orion On Sale from 30 October 2008
• Proper Go Well High

I think the Jane book may be out a little later as I'm sure the editor is still working on it. Sounds like it'll be a great book though!

Just received my copy of Watching the Watchmen from Amazon this morning. Good stuff. Lots of unseen artwork, character designs, page roughs etc.

Looks like Amazon.co.uk is not up to date (no surprise there...), which is where I got that date from. The Titan Books web site http://www.titanbooks.com isn't even listing the jane title yet, I should have checked. Darn, looking forward to that one!

There's masses of Jane material on the web but a print collection is definitely something to look forward to. Looks like Amazon

From what David Leach (the editor) tells me the Jane book is going to be great, full of bonus material as well as strips.

According to Amazon the Best of Battle book has been put back to next February now!

Shame about the Best of Battle as I was looking forward to it.

What would be the most common reason for a publishing date to be pushed back.

Dunno. "It's not finished" might be one good reason. ;-)

My guess is they've realized the market is flooded with such books at present so want to wait until after Christmas.

Or perhaps Amazon made a mistake. They've done it before.

Was in Forbbiden Planet and Border today (Friday 31/10/08) and the Art of War Book is now on sale (not in Sept 2009 as previosy noted) looks very nice, although not my cuppa tea. I also noticed a book on the Eagle "Cut-outs" (ie views of ships , planes etc almost technical in their design) not sure if this is a re-issue or a new book but it was certinly shifting off the shelves.
